We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the third annual Open Day on Saturday 18th July.

Whether you're thinking about buying a boat, looking for a new mooring, interested in holiday lodges or residential waterside homes, or you'd simply like to have a look around the marina, it's a great opportunity to explore everything Roydon Marina Village has to offer.

There'll be boat viewings, lodge tours, live music throughout the day, food and drink, independent exhibitors and plenty to see around the marina.

Summer has well and truly arrived, bringing plenty of sunshine and some very warm days across the waterways - even extreme red weather warnings in some parts of the UK. ☀️🌡️

While there's nothing quite like cruising under blue skies, the heat can make being onboard a little more challenging. Whether you're out exploring or relaxing in your marina, here are a few simple ways to keep cool:

💧 Stay hydrated - It sounds obvious, but it's easy to forget when you're busy. Keep a bottle of water close by and top it up regularly.

🚤 Cruise in the cooler parts of the day - Early mornings and evenings are often far more comfortable than the midday sun.

🪟 Let the breeze through - Open doors, hatches and windows where it's safe to create a good flow of air through the boat.

🧢 Take regular shade breaks - Moor up, enjoy an ice cream, find a waterside pub or simply sit under an awning for a while.

🐶 Don't forget your four-legged crew - Make sure pets always have fresh water, somewhere shaded to rest, and avoid hot towpaths during the hottest part of the day.

🔥 Keep an eye on your engine - Hot weather can put extra strain on engines, so it's worth keeping an eye on temperatures and carrying out your usual checks.
