**ANNOUNCEMENT**

The end of an era has come.
We will be closing the door of Q’s Tattoos after almost 3 decades on the 21st of March 2026.
To some this will be a shock, to others, the most sensible decision at the juncture of what has been a rough journey over the last 9 months.

Q’s cancer has taken a toll, not just on Q himself who has battled on working as much as possible through every treatment and side effect but on family, friends, and crucially on the studio. Q will tattoo again, it is who he is, but for now we need to focus on his healing and on new adventures, we are welcoming in a change of pace with less stress and less overheads!

It has truly been a pleasure. Many of you have been with us since the beginning, many of you have become friends, some have become family. We will forever be grateful for the years of custom and friendship and laughter, and for the outpouring of love and support received since Q was diagnosed – there are not words to say how much it has meant to us.

We will be posting, and updating, available spaces from now until the 21st March on Facebook (Q Jones profile - www.facebook.com/qstattoos) so if you want to book in before the doors close, just drop us a message.

Hello everyone,
Q and I just wanted to say how incredibly humbled we are by all of the amazing support (and generosity) you have and continue to show us, words are not quite enough to express how grateful we are to have you guys standing by us during what is – and will continue to be – a truly trying time.
With Q’s treatment now in progress, and with the possibility of radiotherapy on the cards as well, we need to make some adjustments at work to help manage his chemo side-effects and recovery time, especially as we head into the winter months and colds and bugs become more widespread so please read on:

OPENING HOURS
We will be opening by appointment only for the foreseeable future. This means we will not be at the shop during our normal advertised business hours unless we have bookings. We have a good idea of his chemo schedule through to November and will always post days that we are fully closed (no messages being answered etc) both on Facebook and on the door at the studio so please always check for updates.
If you want to book in, please do get in touch, where possible we will try and group bookings so there are no gaps in our days, and we will try and remain flexible, but Q’s health is our priority.

MASKS
As the chemo progresses Q’s immune system is going to be wiped out pretty quickly. We would ask that all our customers wear a mask whilst being tattooed – we can provide these if needed.

STRONG SMELLS (A request)
Q’s sense of smell is currently super heightened (a side effect of the chemo apparently!) and he is really sensitive to perfumes/colognes at the moment – if you have an appointment booked please consider not wearing any perfume/cologne before hand 😊

ILLNESS
As each chemo session progresses, we will closely monitor how Q is feeling and do our best to let any of you with bookings know as soon as possible if he going to need to reschedule. On the other side of this, if you could try and limit who you see in the run up to your appointment that would be incredibly helpful, and if you wake up with so much as a sniffle, or a whisper of not feeling well in any way, please let us know and we will reschedule you – we just can’t risk Q getting ill – a common cold could prove fatal, honestly, his oncologist would rather he didn’t leave the house at all!

Even on the days that we are at work we would ask that in the interest of keeping the people he sees to a minimum you drop us a message/email/phone call first. Emails, Facebook and Instagram messages all come through to the work mobile and our land line is really clever and will email us with any voicemail you leave us, so if there is no answer do leave a message, we will get it!

Q is starting his chemo so we will be CLOSED on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th September.
Friday 26th we will be open until 1pm.
Saturday 27th we will be open until 2pm.

As some of you may know, back in June Q was diagnosed with bladder cancer, in July he had surgery to resect the tumour and we thought that would be the end of it (apart from regular check-ups) just over a week ago we found out that it was far more aggressive than they thought – Grade 3 – and that now he needs to have chemo followed by major surgery to remove his bladder (plus some lymph nodes and prostate) and have an ileal conduit built (a stoma).
This is understandably a real shock to the system for Q and I and for our family and friends – it was meant to be kidney stones!
With time already had off for hospital and drs appointments and his initial surgery, things have been trying, with his new treatment plan he could be out of action (and certainly on reduced hours) until approx. April 2026 – and that is if everything goes as it should (keep everything crossed for him!)
Q and I have been shown so much love and support in the last couple of months, even more in the last week, but while things like UC might help us to keep our home, we need help keeping the studio going, so Q has something to come back to.
The truly wonderful, one-of-a-kind, Sam has set up a gofundme page to help with the costs so that Q can focus on treatment and recovery and we would be immensely grateful if you would donate. We understand that things are tight for everyone, and that Christmas will be upon us before we know it, so thank you in advance to everyone who can give. The link is at the top.
