Works carried out by us this week

Bmw 525d came in for injector seals, rocker cover and inlet manifold gaskets and crankcase breather

Stunning 2005 jaguar xjr 4.2 supercharged, came in with a vibration when accelerating and a coolant leak. We changed the front and rear doughnuts on the propshaft, while doing that we found the exhaust blowing from the joints so, as should be done, used exhaust assembly paste when refitting and no blows from them now. On inspection the coolant leak was coming from a return coolant hose on the supercharger

2014 vw transporter in for a pre mot check and a service. We found a drop link excessively worn, bushes on passenger lower arm excessive play, the bushes on the anti roll bar were oval but original and 225k miles later they were replaced, also found both rear shock absorbers had little to no rebound and a very noisy rear wheel bearing, so, full service, 2 rear shocks, rear wheel bearing, 2 lower arms, 2 drop links and a pair of anti roll bar bushes later and the van is running as good as new again

Also Currently halfway through a wet belt replacement on a 2018 Ford transit

Just a couple of jobs from recently

1st was our friend over at Lion landscapes and driveways who’s van had come in for a clutch replacement, unfortunately after the clutch had been done the crank bearings decided they didn’t want to play anymore, we then sourced a quality replacement engine from a trusted supplier, swapped the new clutch kit, 9 month old turbo and a few other parts over onto the new engine, refitted, replaced leak off pipes, rocker cover and vacuum pipes, test drove and handed the van back to 1 very happy customer

2nd was a customer who had been advised on the mot of a shock absorber leaking and rear caliper binding on their 2016 Nissan qashqai, the car came in, we replaced the rear caliper, was in the process of changing the shock absorbers and it became apparent that the front inner bushes on the lower arms were worn aswel, so 2 lower arms later and the car was all sorted and back on the road

3rd was a Citroen in for a complete clutch replacement

4th a Ford kuga, customer was complaining of knocking and banging noises when driving, turned out to be the lower engine mount, replaced and all smooth again

5th was a 2008 Audi a3, came in for a rear caliper and rear pads and discs change

A nice restoration we’ve got with us, give us and MotaFix Ramp Rental a follow for updates as and when we’re doing the works. This isn’t a job for the faint hearted and will definitely be a bit of a labour of love job but the result I’m sure will be brilliant

Apologies to any followers for being a bit quiet of late, we had a 2 week family break to recharge and hit the ground running on our return

This is some of the things we’ve been up to over the last week

2013 vw golf came in, brake disc backing plate had snapped off and was scraping the inside of the wheel, around an hour later and car was repaired with customer back on their way

Customer came to us with an intermittent oil light, checked the car out and found that the wet belt was seriously degrading, sump was removed, pick up pipe replaced, full wet belt kit including guide and tensioner fitted and an oil and filter change for good measure

Had a customer get in touch through Facebook on Thursday, their camper had failed the mot, we remedied the mechanical faults which were 2 rear callipers and brake pads, both front drop links and a replacement rear fog light unit sourced and fitted ready for them to go away yesterday. We even got them an mot slot as the garage that failed it was unable to fit them in for a retest in time for them to go on their travels

Customer came to us with a rare vw lupo, door was damaged and was more economical to replace the door than repair, they sourced a replacement in the same colour (lucky), on fitting it came to light the replacement had electric windows not manual, managed to mark out and adapt replacement door to take manual windows

A regular customer had recently changed their car, the new car had recently had a new timing chain etc fitted, as a precaution we had the car in just for an oil and filter change, good news for the customer was that the oil filter was clear of any fragments or sludge

Another customer called us, they’re centre section of exhaust had snapped as they were leaving work in Walsall, we travelled over to them and removed the hanging exhaust to make the car safe enough to drive back to our garage, then replaced the exhaust and while it was with us fitted a nice new battery as they said they had to keep jump starting the car
