For the next three weeks the DVSA Examiners are in Stornoway and there is practical driving tests from 07:00 until 18:00hrs, Monday to Friday (until Friday 14th August 2026)

Could I please respectfully ask that the “Test Bay” in Pier 1 is not used as a general parking space as this is where the DVSA Practical Driving Tests start and end.

For the last two days this space has been parked in causing the candidates unnecessary anxiety on top of an already stressful situation for them.

I have repurposed one of the many abandoned traffic cones and popped it into the bay to try and draw attention to what is written on the tarmac.

Thank you to everyone who respects the space is a test bay. All of the driving instructors and their candidates appreciate your thoughtfulness. 🚙💨

Congratulations 🥳 to Owen on passing his test this morning 🌅…After a very nervous start, he went out and came back with that pass, smashing it with only a few minors💪🏻🚗💨 Well done Owen, Who is now starting a new chapter and heading to Glasgow for college…what a great achievement 😁 Owen is cousin number 8 that’s gone through the driving school…that’s them all done from this age group…. Super proud 😊 take care on these roads 🚗💨🧡

Well done 👏 to Josh on passing his test this morning 🌅 first time pass with only one minor 💪🏻, really nicely done pal. After having to wait an extra week, with tests being cancelled due to the plane ✈️ not landing with fog and examiner not making it. The wait was worth the outcome you got today, proud of you pal, enjoy the freedom. And Josh, just stick to the rules of the road 🤣 see you in the passing 🚗💨

The changes that have and are coming in for learners on booking their own driving test 🚗💨

If have a booking or you’ll be test ready soon, be aware of the changes that have come in below 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

🟢Talk to your instructor before booking a test 🚗💨
🟢Don’t book ahead too early 👍🏻
🟢Book a test when you’re ready 👍🏻
🟢There will be more availability 👍🏻
🛑If tests are not taken by learners who are not ready to sit tests🛑
