Wrap Star - Vehicle Livery

Last weeks big job was this stunning Porsche 911 GT3 RS which had the full wrap treatment. This is a silver painted car but the white wrap made the car pop and the contrast with the black and satin blue give a great eye catching contrast. Here it is at Spa Circuit in Belgium for some R&D by the ingenious engineers at Suspension Secrets

These days everyone is a designer now that A.I has become so accessible. This has become a useful tool for gathering ideas and getting a good feel for what the customer is aiming for.

However, there is a snagging problem with the transition from computer generated image to something that we as vinyl installers can actually work with.

I have worked a process regarding this issue by re entering the 1/4 angle image into ai and request that it shows me the image from a square on angle such as the side or from above. This allows me to be able to draw out the design in a way that I can then cut the required shapes, patterns or logos necessary to achieve the desired outcome.

All that’s left is to install the base wrap, layer up the cut graphic shapes and finish with any required logos ⭐️

This time last week I was at Donington Park for the British GT 🏁🚗💨 where TCR UK was one of the supporting championships for the headliner.

This freshly built AUDI RS3 LMS TCR was one of the contenders and it was a tight schedule to get the livery installed as a busy previous week on a big job in Germany meant visiting vanninmotorsport to carefully select the desired colour was delayed.

The colour we were aiming for was a Tiffany blue. After taking some time looking through the colour swatches we selected this colour - but it was only available in a satin finish!

Not a problem! We simply ran the wrap vinyl through the laminator, adding a clear gloss layer to achieve the finish we were hoping for.

With the addition of some flourecent yellow highlights and the sponsor logos applied we were able to make a plain looking AUDI race car to become one of the most eye catching cars on the grid ⭐️

I spent most of this week completing an order of eight partial wraps over a variety of mid size vans but then finished the week off with a couple of roof wraps.

One of which was this Mercedes A Class which also had extremely murky and cloudy chrome window trims. This is as a result of harsh cleaning chemicals used by the roadside car washes.

You can see how bad it is from the start of this video on a couple of sections I was yet to de-chrome but the difference is night and day with how well these chrome delete’s come out, giving the black pack look, enhancing the stylishness of the car and in this example, matching up to the black wing mirrors and wheels. The car now looking neat and complete ⭐️

This year I have had the pleasure of wrapping quite a few TCR race cars. Some of which have been raced all across Europe.

This one though is just for the owners own driving pleasure.

With this great contrast of colours, it’s sure to make an impact on the track whether it’s just out to work on lap times or if it’s going for the win ⭐️
