Autumn is here… but are your car’s drains ready?

Falling leaves might look lovely, but they can cause problems for your vehicle! Leaves and debris can block your windscreen drains, potentially leading to water leaks and damp interiors.

Remove any leaves and debris from the base of your windscreen and around the scuttle panel as soon as you notice them, especially after windy days or heavy leaf fall. Regular checks throughout autumn can help prevent blocked drains and potential water leaks. 🍂

WINTER IS COMING… ❄

We might still be enjoying the odd decent day, but your car is already heading towards the toughest few months of the year.

So throughout October, we're going to be sharing our "Winter Is Coming…" series — giving you simple things to check now, before the colder weather exposes a problem.

DAY 1: YOUR BATTERY

Cold weather can put extra strain on your battery, and a battery that's already getting weak may suddenly make itself known on a freezing morning.

If you've noticed:
• The engine taking longer to start
• Lights appearing dimmer than usual
• Electrical systems behaving strangely
• A battery warning light
• Or you've had to jump-start the car recently

…it could be time to get it checked.

Don't wait until you're stood on the driveway on a freezing Monday morning wondering why the car won't start. 🥶

VAQ DIFFERENTIAL: DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES?

If you drive a performance VAG vehicle, you may have heard the term VAQ mentioned — but what exactly is it?

The VAQ system is an electronically controlled limited-slip differential designed to improve traction, handling and cornering performance.

It helps manage how much torque is sent to each front wheel, particularly when accelerating through corners — helping to reduce wheelspin and keep the car feeling planted.

No strange noises.
No loss of power.
No obvious problem.

So it's tempting to think… “I'll get it checked next time.”

But that warning light means your car's system has detected a fault — and ignoring it could allow a small issue to develop into something much more expensive.

🔧 It could be something relatively simple…
⚠️ Or it could be an issue affecting your engine, emissions or other components.

And if the light is flashing, that's a different story altogether — don't just carry on driving and hope it goes away.

Warning light on? Get it diagnosed. Don't just wait for it to disappear. At the minute we are booking about a week and a half in advance for diagnostic assessments.
