One of the most common questions we get when booking a towbar is, ‘Do I need 7-pin or 13-pin electrics?’
It’s actually quite simple.
A 7-pin socket is perfect if you’re mainly towing a basic trailer or using a bike rack with a lighting board. It powers your road lights like indicators, brake lights and sidelights.
A 13-pin socket does all of that, but it also provides extra functions. If you’re towing a caravan, it can power things like reversing lights, interior electrics and even charge the leisure battery while you drive.
