Another one with us to rectify someone else’s poor work! This M140 had a rear spoiler painted and fitted by a “customisation” shop who unfortunately left the car with some serious issues to be sorted.
Holes drilled in the wrong place for the spoiler were left untouched and uncovered, meaning the top of the tailgate filled with water every time it rained and caused corrosion on the panel as well as rusty water running down the body of the car. The paint finish on the spoiler was also one of the worst we’ve seen, we suspect from using aerosol cans or extremely cheap materials.
After welding up the unused holes, we painted inside and outside of the upper edge of the tailgate, as well as stripping the spoiler back and repainting it in gloss black as it should have been to start with. The spoiler was refitted with gaskets cut to size around the mounting points to stop any chance of water making its way back into the tailgate.
