FERRARI 250 SWB – WEBER 38 DCN REMANUFACTURE

Carburatori has just completed a restoration and modification of six 38 DCN carburettors for GTO Engineering Ltd.

This work required a considerable amount of engineering to rectify various faults, including reproducing a number of components. They were collected and installed on a Ferrari 250 SWB to urgently replace a malfunctioning set of 38 DCN carburettors, before rolling road testing the following day at Northampton Motorsport. The performance and functionality of the carburettors proved to be a significant improvement to the previous carburettors.

FERRARI 250 SWB – WEBER 38 DCN REMANUFACTURE

Carburatori have just completed a restoration and modification of six 38 DCN carburettors for GTO Engineering Ltd.

 

This work required a considerable amount of engineering to rectify various faults, including reproducing a number of components. A recently completed set of original Italian Weber 40IDA3Cs, as used on many classic Porsche.
This set needed complete renovation, with new shafts fitted and numerous fuel leakages sorted due to corrosion.
Now in pristine condition and ready to go back onto a porsche 911T.

These Weber 40 DCZ6 were entrusted to us by one of the worlds leading classic Ferrari specialists.
The carburettor base fl**ges were distorted and the shaft journals excessively worn.
We first corrected the base fl**ge distortion, before lightly machining the fl**ge face.
The throttle shaft journals were then line reamered oversize with the original Italian Weber factory reamer.
New oversized shafts were then supplied by ourselves.

This Marcos was brought to us after we had carried out a rebuild of its Weber 40DFI5.
Modification to the accelerator cable bracket was required, amongst a few other small jobs.
Fine tuned and now purring away.

A quick turn around was required on this original Italian Weber 40DFI5, as fitted to the Ferrari 365, 330GT & used by FMC for Group 1 racing on their Ford 3.1 Essex engines.
Straightening of the carburettor was required due to warping of the body, along with a few other modifications.
Plating was deemed satisfactory and re-used after a clean up.
This one is destined for a Ford Essex powered Marcos.

A set of Weber 44IDF 40/41 for a Ford RS2000 X-PAC, originaly developed for group 1 rallying in the 1970s, these carburettors have been fully restored and tested, including original manifolds and airbox.
Now collected by the happy customer and ready for action.

Some rare 42 DCOEs in the shop this week, which sadly someone has attempted to restore.
A course blast media has been used resulting in a rough finish as well as crushing of the floats. This is amongst a whole host of other problems.
We will get them back to the standard they should be ready for a Maserati 3500, Triumph TR4 rally car or perhaps something else.
