If you're in the motor trade, PLEASE stop treating forced regenerations as a quick fix for every blocked DPF!
And if you're a vehicle owner whose garage wants to plug in a diagnostic machine and simply press the regeneration button without carrying out any proper testing…
❌ THINK TWICE!
At SSER, we're regularly seeing vehicles that have suffered from repeated forced regenerations, unnecessary additives and a lack of proper investigation.
⚠️ A BLOCKED DPF IS USUALLY A SYMPTOM, NOT THE ROOT CAUSE!
Something has caused that DPF to become blocked in the first place!
It could be:
🔧 Faulty sensors
🔧 EGR system problems
🔧 Boost or intake leaks
🔧 Injector or combustion issues
🔧 Incorrect engine operating temperatures
🔧 Failed or incomplete regenerations
🔧 Excessive soot production
Simply cleaning the DPF or forcing another regeneration without addressing the underlying fault can mean the problem returns again and again!
💷 MODERN DPF SYSTEMS ARE EXPENSIVE!
And unfortunately, we're seeing more vehicles where previous attempts at fixing the problem have resulted in unnecessary expense or even damage to the DPF itself.
