Some of the earlier motorcycles preparing for their first run at the Kop Hill Climb on Saturday.
Some made it to the top, some claimed to make it (but the "nearly man" knows who he is :) ) and a few rolled back down to have another go later.

I was at Kop Hill this weekend and loved this 1928 Douglas SW5, OHV 500cc rocket ship ridden by a gentleman that is just a few years senior to me, and assisted by his very capable brother. Terry Wilson is the rider.
See the speed he leaves the line at the start.
Oh and it sounded amazing too.

The 1920's OHV Douglas SW500 / DT 500 has some stunning lines in profile.
In its day, it was a formidable opponent.
This particular machine still has the correct Douglas 3-speed gearbox. Many available today have been retro-fitted with a 4-speed Norton Dolls Head gearbox.
This is a very well maintained motorcycle that was used in competition.

This looks like a great day out.

We like to support interesting events and motorcycle runs.
Here's one that has got our attention. It's The Don Hunt Centenary Run, and is organised by Alison Hunt who came to Still Kicking.
Sunday 20th September
Start is at The Full Moon, Hawridge, Chesham, HP5 2UH (10.15 for 11.00 start)
65 miles of country roads in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

In a perfect world, it would be nice to use a 1926 Motorcycle as it's a Centenary Run, but it's not a requirement. As it's organised by Alison ( and Bruce), we are sure it will be great fun.

Two flat tank Sunbeam fuel tanks.
1. C1913 veteran tank with original fittings including the caps.
2. 1920's tank possibly for 3-1/2hp, Model 7 or 4-1/4hp. It's quite a long tank and has the (covered-up) hole on the left side for the lamp switch.

1926 Dog ear OHV J*P 350cc engine for the Royal Enfield Sports Model 351.

Difficult to find one of these. It's possible to fit this into a side valve frame.

Matching case halves
Rare dog ear OHV engine
Good fins.
