A little touch of coastal magic found on today’s beach wander.
This lovely pebble is what folklore calls a wishing stone, marked by an unbroken band of white running all the way round. According to seaside tradition, you trace that continuous line with your thumb, close your eyes, and make a quiet wish. Legend has it the unbroken quartz circle keeps the wish safe and complete. You can pop it in your pocket as a lucky keepsake to take home, or cast it into the rolling waves to send your wish out across the sea.
One of our absolute favourite things about being down here at Southerness is that you never know what treasures the tide leaves behind. Pocket-sized reminders to slow down, fill your lungs with fresh salt air, and enjoy life at coastal pace.
