Give yourself some extra time in the morning to defrost your car and NOT USE your wiper blades as this rips your wiper blades. This then causes poor vision as you try to wash that salt stray off.

When the roads around the UK get greasy or flooded, worn tyres can lead to aquaplaning—where your car literally floats on a thin layer of water, leaving you with zero steering or braking control.

The "20p Test" 🪙

Before your next trip, do a quick check:

Place a 20p coin into the main tread grooves of your tyres.
If you can't see the outer band of the coin, you're above the legal limit!
If you can see the band, your tread is likely below 1.6mm, making it illegal and dangerous in the wet.

🥶 Freezing Temps Are Here – Is Your Car Ready?
​Temperatures are dropping fast 📉

If you’ve been topping up your radiator with just water over the summer, your engine is at serious risk.

​Why it matters:
Water freezes at 0°C. If your coolant is too diluted, it can freeze inside your engine block, causing cracks and thousands in damage.

Did you know there are 3 different types of antifreeze?

​IAT (Inorganic Additive Technology)
​OAT (Organic Acid Technology)
​HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology)

​Never mix them. Mixing the wrong types can turn your coolant into a thick sludge that clogs your engine and causes overheating.

Check your owner's manual for the right type and ensure you have a proper 50/50 mix to survive the freeze!

💡 3 Simple Tips to Protect Your Car & Battery This Winter:

Warm Up Slowly! Keep your heater fan on a low setting (1 or 2) until your engine has had a chance to warm up a little. Blasting the fan immediately drains the battery and delays the warm air.

Mind Your Lights! Make sure your headlights are off when you have daylight, or ensure your car's auto-light setting is working correctly. Running accessories unnecessarily strains the battery, especially on short, cold trips.

✋ STOP! Never Use Wipers on Frost! Using your wiper blades to clear frost will rapidly rip the rubber and cause annoying, visibility-reducing smear marks on your windscreen. This damage becomes even more noticeable once the salt gritters start covering the roads! Use an ice scraper instead!

🚨 URGENT SAFETY ALERT FOR CITROËN C3 & DS 3 OWNERS 🚨

If you drive a Citroën C3 or DS 3, stop driving it immediately and check if you’re affected—this isn’t just a routine recall. It’s a “stop‑drive” order due to a serious airbag defect. Here’s why:

⚠️ What happened?
• Citroën (under Stellantis) issued an urgent stop‑drive recall on 20 June 2025 across Europe. It concerns faulty Takata airbags fitted in:
• Citroën C3 (second gen, built 2009–2016)
• Citroën DS 3 (built 2009–2016)
• DS Automobiles DS 3 (built 2016–2019)
• These airbags can degrade—especially in warm, humid climates—leading to unstable inflator explosions that may shoot metal fragments into occupants, causing serious injury or even death.

1. PARK your car immediately—do not drive it (your insurance may be invalid if you do) .
