To my wonderful Sholing Service Station customers and Sholing community,
For almost 22 years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing many of you on a first-name basis year in year out, for MOT's and many other things.
Over the years, your incredible generosity has honestly blown me away—whether you were sponsoring my 100km ultra-marathons, supporting Movember, adding to our foodbank collections or backing our community walks.
Today, I am reaching out to you for a cause that is deeply personal to me, urgent, and more important than anything I’ve ever asked for before. My lifelong best friend of 27 years, Tony Hamond, has just been diagnosed with an ultra-rare, highly aggressive cancer. He is moving back to Sholing to start immediate, intensive chemotherapy at Southampton General Hospital.
To make a terrifying medical situation worse, Tony's work only covers 90 days of sick pay. Because he has already been off for over a month, he now has less than 2 months before his income stops completely. On top of covering his immediate living costs so he can keep a roof over his head, we are raising these funds because this cancer is ultra-rare, and the money may be desperately needed to fund advanced treatments or clinical options not currently available on the NHS.
Tony needs to spend every ounce of his energy fighting for his life, not worrying about bills or treatment costs.
