Hi everyone, it’s seems there is another Lisa’s Driving School somewhere up North. So please note that even though I really don’t mind replying to all messages, I am based, and have been for the last 18 years, in Southampton, Hampshire. Thank you and safe driving wherever you are!
Petition: Reform arrangements for practical driving tests to tackle backlog

Give registered driving instructors the role of 'signing off' learner drivers as competent at driving manoeuvres, and only allow a practical test to be booked once a learner is signed off in this way. The reversing exercise could then be removed from the practical test.

We have lifted COVID-19 driving and theory test restrictions in England in line with government restrictions ending in this country.

This means:

😷 face coverings are a personal choice for theory and practical test candidates – candidates no longer need to tell us if they can’t wear a face covering before their test
🚗 driving tests are no longer ending early unless the candidate’s driving is so poor it is a risk to their safety and that of other road users
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 driving instructors and accompanying drivers can sit in on driving tests
🏠 you no longer have to self isolate if you have COVID-19, but we encourage you to rearrange your test if you feel unwell for any reason.

Let's keep each other safe on our roads. Before moving off you should:

🚗 use all mirrors to check the road is clear

👀 look round to check the blind spots

🚘 signal if necessary before moving out

🧐 look round for a final check

🦺 Move off only when it is safe to do so.

Here's a handy reminder!

Before you set off on any car journey:

👍 you MUST be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from all your windows

👍 you MUST ensure lights are clean and number plates are clearly visible and legible

Do have a couple of spaces available, so if you are looking for manual lessons please get in touch to see if I cover your area. Thank you!

Many thanks, Lisa

Hi everyone. FB has changed how business pages are controlled, so please bear with me as I’m not getting any notifications reference messages etc. I am trying to check in at least once everyday so hopefully my response won’t be too long. Stay safe.

Hi everyone, unfortunately due to another lockdown and keeping inline with Government rules all driving tuition has to be placed on hold till till the 2nd December. Stay safe!

When taking the first exit to the left, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

• signal left and approach in the left-hand lane
• keep to the left on the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave.

When taking an exit to the right or going full circle, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

• signal right and approach in the right-hand lane
• keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundabout
• signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.

When taking any intermediate exit, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

• select the appropriate lane on approach to and on the roundabout
• you should not normally need to signal on approach
• stay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundabout
• signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.

When there are more than three lanes at the entrance to a roundabout, use the most appropriate lane on approach and through it.

Driving test consultation: the proposed changes explained

Today we’ve launched a consultation on changes to the driving test. I thought it would be helpful if I explained the proposals and gave you information on why these changes will better prepare new drivers and improve road safety.

Look carefully before you start reversing. You should

• use all your mirrors
• check the ‘blind spot’ behind you (the part of the road you cannot see easily in the mirrors)
• check there are no pedestrians (particularly children), cyclists, other road users or obstructions in the road behind you.

Reverse slowly while
• checking all around
• looking mainly through the rear window
• being aware that the front of your vehicle will swing out as you turn.

Get someone to guide you if you cannot see clearly

Got and external fault with the landline and Internet at the moment, so apologies if you are trying to get hold of me, hopefully won't be for much longer
