🔧 Citroën C1 1.2 PureTech Wet Belt Replacement 🔧

This Citroën C1 was with us yesterday for a wet belt replacement—and this time, we recorded the job from our point of view using our Meta glasses! 👓🎥

As you’ll see in the video and photos, the timing belt had started breaking up, with pieces of belt already collecting in the sump. The auxiliary belt was also severely perished, so this was replaced at the same time.

Highlights from the job include:

✅ Genuine timing belt kit
✅ Genuine gaskets and seals
✅ Sump removed and belt debris cleared
✅ Oil pickup inspected and cleaned
✅ New auxiliary belt fitted
✅ Fresh oil and filter
✅ Everything reassembled and thoroughly checked

This shows why PureTech wet belts need to be properly inspected. Once the belt begins deteriorating, the debris can restrict the oil pickup and potentially cause serious engine damage.

Another PureTech caught before it became a much more expensive problem! 🔧

🔍 Fault codes don’t always mean faulty parts!

Today we had this Škoda Roomster in for diagnostics after it had previously been looked at elsewhere. We found an OBD code reader on the seat and an Amazon replacement part in the car—but changing the sensor hadn’t fixed the problem.

Using the stored fault codes and freeze-frame data, we could see exactly what the vehicle was doing when the fault occurred. This is why it’s important not to clear fault codes before proper diagnostics are carried out.

The live data showed the intake-air temperature fluctuating between 23°C and -40°C. After testing the circuit, we found a broken and corroded wire.

We repaired the damaged wiring, the readings returned to normal and the fault was fixed ✅

A fault code gives you a direction—it doesn’t automatically tell you which part to replace.

This is the importance of proper diagnostics, testing and getting to the root cause before fitting unnecessary parts! 🔧

With so many mobile companies now offering on-car DPF cleaning, we’ve decided to put it to the test. 👀

We’ll soon be recording a video where we carry out an on-car DPF clean, record the readings and results, then remove the same DPF to inspect it properly and see just how clean it really is inside.

We’ll then put it through our off-car DPF cleaning machine to find out exactly how much soot and ash remains.

No opinions or guesswork—we’ll show the complete process and let the results speak for themselves. 🔧

🔧 Honda Civic Clutch Replacement 🔧

This Honda Civic came in with a badly worn clutch—and as you can see, the friction material had certainly done its job!

The gearbox was removed, the worn clutch replaced with a quality new kit, and everything was carefully reassembled. It’s now back on the road with a smooth, reliable clutch again. ✅

If your clutch is slipping, juddering, difficult to select gears or the biting point feels unusually high, get in touch before it leaves you stranded.

Makes a change from all the Fiestas we’ve been doing recently! 😂

Yesterday we had this Ford Transit in for a wet belt replacement. With the amount of wet belts coming through our doors lately, they’re certainly keeping us busy!

Another one stripped down, replaced correctly and put back together ready to get back to work. 👌

🔧❄️ VW Golf – Air Con Evaporator Replacement

This VW Golf was in with us last week for an air-conditioning evaporator replacement… and if you’ve ever wondered why some seemingly simple repairs can be so labour intensive, this photo says it all! 😅

To actually get to the evaporator, the entire dashboard has to come out, along with a considerable amount of the interior and associated wiring/components.

Once stripped down, we could replace the faulty evaporator before carefully rebuilding everything, regassing the air-conditioning system and carrying out final checks. ✅

A lot of work for one component hidden deep inside the car — but another job completed and back together as it should be. 💪🏻

When rust is left too long, this is what happens… 😬

This Toyota Hilux came in with a knocking from the rear suspension. After inspection, we found both rear shock absorber mounts had completely corroded away from the chassis. The corrosion was so severe that the mounts had snapped off, allowing the shock absorbers to hit the body.

After removing all the rotten metal, we ordered replacement mounts and carefully welded them back onto the chassis, restoring the suspension to a safe, solid condition. 💪

Sometimes a strange noise is much more than just a worn shock absorber. If your 4x4 or pickup has excessive corrosion underneath, it’s always worth getting it checked before it becomes a much bigger and more expensive problem.

🚗 WE’VE DONE IT! 🎉

Today marks a huge milestone for Southcoast Automotive Services.

After weeks of hard work, early mornings, late nights and plenty of determination, we’ve officially been signed off by the DVSA and are now an approved MOT Testing Station.

From preparing the workshop and building our new MOT bay to making sure every detail met the required standard, it’s been a massive team effort—but today it all paid off.

Being able to offer MOTs on-site is another big step forward for our business and means we can now provide an even better service for our customers, all under one roof.

To everyone who’s supported us, shared our posts, recommended us and trusted us with your vehicles… thank you. Your support has helped make this possible.

This is another milestone ticked off the list… and we’re only just getting started.
