2013 Volkswagen Tiguan in today for a low biting point on the clutch, a quick visual inspection on the lift showed transmission oil leaking from the clutch housing.

Having secured authorisation to remove the transmission, this is what we found.

Unfortunately for this customer the gearbox requires a new casing and complete rebuild due to the damaged caused by yet another original equipment part VAG clutch failure.

It was nice to get out of the workshop and into the sun to do a Mobile Diagnostic Session, on one of the 2 VW Transporters this family own, once completed and running, the vehicle came in for a full service and MOT test.

Today we’ve received an update from the Government in relation to the temporary exemption introduced earlier in the year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

If your MOT is due on or after 1st August 2020 you must get your vehicle MOT’d before the expiry date - no exemption will apply.

If your MOT was due during the lockdown period when an exemption was in place (i.e. March - July 2020) then the six month exemption is still in effect from the date of expiry. So if your MOT was due in May 2020 (for example) it will still be valid until November 2020.

These changes are likely to see an increase in demand for MOT’s due to things returning to normality again whilst trying to catch up on MOT’s people have delayed due to the Covid-19 exemption.

Therefore we would encourage you to book in with us nice and early to ensure we can accommodate your MOT prior to its expiration date.
