In this video, we bring a customer’s 40,000-mile BMW F82 M4 into the Regal Autosport workshop for a preventative rod bearing replacement. We walk you through the entire workshop process, drop the oil pan, remove the original factory bearings, and inspect the wear up close.

Whether you drive a BMW F80 M3, F82 / F83 M4, or F87 M2 Competition, understanding the condition of your S55 engine’s bottom end is crucial for long-term reliability. This Week in the Workshop 🔧 From suspension and cooling upgrades to driveline work, track car prep and precision alignment 👇🏽

1-3. Audi RSQ3 - BILSTEIN suspension and a Wagner Tuning intercooler fitted, improving handling while helping keep intake temperatures under control when pushing harder.
4. VW Golf GTI - CV joint replaced, curing a worn component and helping get rid of the knocks and vibration that can come with a failing joint.
5. BMW M2 - The Auto Finesse ‘Club Regal’ track car back in for more work, including an inspection of the Wavetrac L*D and brake work to keep it ready for the circuit.
6. Porsche Boxster - Service and transmission service completed, alongside a new differential seal to tackle a leak before it becomes a bigger problem.
7. VW Golf R - Wavetrac L*D, S3 subframe, Clubsport S uprights & balljoints and RS3 rear brace all fitted, transforming the front-end setup and giving the Golf R a serious upgrade in traction, handling and chassis control.
8. Porsche Cayenne - New wheel speed sensor, coil packs and spark plugs fitted, followed by a full wheel alignment using our in-house Beissbarth Q.Lign 3D system to get everything dialled in.

1. BMW F87 M2 - The Auto Finesse 'Club Regal' track build back in for a health check and maintenance, keeping it ready for the next day at the circuit.⁠
2. Audi A5 - H&R lowering springs fitted, giving the A5 a sharper stance and improved handling.⁠
3. Porsche Panamera - Routine service and MOT completed, keeping it reliable, roadworthy and ready for the miles ahead.⁠
4. VW MK8 Golf GTI - KW V2 Comfort coilovers fitted, improving handling and giving the GTI a more controlled ride without sacrificing everyday comfort.⁠
5. Jaguar F-Type - Wheel speed sensor replaced, restoring accurate ABS and traction control operation.⁠
6. BMW M5 - Diagnosed a headlight fault and confirmed the unit itself requires replacement, getting to the root of the issue rather than guessing.⁠
7. Porsche Boxster - Service completed alongside a clutch switch replacement, helping keep everything working as it should.⁠
8. Audi RS e-tron GT - Precision wheel alignment completed using our in-house Beissbarth Q.Lign 3D system, helping maximise handling, tyre life and driving confidence.⁠
9. VW MK7 Golf R - Front Wavetrac installation underway, alongside an Audi S3 8V aluminium subframe and uprights for a serious upgrade to the front end.⁠

What a day. Huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to see us at the PistonHeads Annual Service at Bicester Motion today ❤️⁠

From chatting cars and performance upgrades, to picking up some Regal merch and getting up close with the cars on display - it was brilliant seeing so many familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones.⁠
⁠
The Regal booth was packed out with some serious machinery, including: AST x MOTON Suspension’s BMW E91 WTCC build, Chris Stewart’s Porsche 997 GT3, Billy Hilton’s Porsche 993 and RYAN STEWART’s Mk7 Golf GTI track build.⁠
⁠
We were also proud to sponsor the Modified Lawn, bringing together everything from carefully considered builds to seriously wild creations - a great spot to wander through and see just how differently people approach modifying their cars.⁠

And it wouldn’t be a proper PistonHeads event without some good car chat - Ryan took to the live stage to talk 50 years of the VW Golf GTI, alongside a Mk1 GTI and the brand new Edition 50. What a way to celebrate one of the most iconic hot hatches ever made.⁠
