🔧 Spot the difference! 🔧

This Peugeot came in this week with a noise coming from the clutch pedal and becoming difficult to change gear.

We quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty clutch release bearing. The vehicle was stripped down and a new clutch assembly and release bearing were fitted.

All back together and now driving like new again! 🚗💨

This one was definitely replaced just in time! 😬

The pickup was full of degraded belt material, and if it had been left any longer, the belt could have broken down further, blocking the oil pickup and starving the engine of oil — potentially causing major engine damage or even seizing the engine.

Luckily, we caught it in time and got it sorted before things got much worse. 💪

Peugeot 208 – MOT Emissions Failure

This Peugeot 208 came into Cox’s Car and Commercial Ltd after failing its MOT on emissions due to excessive oil burning.

After carrying out our checks, we found the valve stem seals were worn, allowing oil into the combustion chamber.

🔧 We removed and stripped the cylinder head, fitted new valve stem seals, re-cut the valves and, while we were there, replaced the wet belt.

The result? 👌
✅ MOT passed
✅ No more smoking
✅ No excessive oil burning
✅ Back on the road and running as it should!

Vehicle in today for our 3-stage rust prevention treatment 🔧🚗

First, we thoroughly clean the underside and allow it to dry out properly. We then remove any loose or flaking rust and treat areas where rust is starting to show.

Once treated, we apply Waxoyl to the underside to help protect it from further corrosion and keep the vehicle on the road for longer before welding repairs are needed.

Regular rust prevention can help extend the life of your vehicle and save money further down the line.

Two Ford Transit Customs in, both with crank pulley issues!

We recently had one Transit Custom recovered to us after the crank pulley had completely broken off. The very next day, another Transit Custom came in with a noise under acceleration. After inspection, we found the crank pulley was also failing—but this time it was caught before it caused major damage.

Something a little different for us today at Cox's Car & Commercial Ltd!

We've got a Kubota micro digger in the workshop with an overheating issue. After diagnosing the fault, we found the water pump has seized. Parts are now on order, and we'll be pushing to get it repaired as quickly as possible because we know the customer isn't making any money while their machine is out of action.

While it's with us, we'll also be carrying out a full service, so it'll be ready to get straight back to work.

If you've got something a bit different that needs attention, don't be afraid to give us a call. What's the worst we can say? Sorry, we can't help? Even then, we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.

This Audi A4 came in with all four windows not working.

After carrying out diagnostic and wiring checks, I found corrosion on the comfort control module connector. The connector and pins were cleaned, refitted, and tested, restoring full operation of all four windows. ✅

Another MOT failure repaired and back on the road for another year! 🚗✅

This Volkswagen Scirocco came in needing repairs after failing its MOT. We replaced both rear lower arms and fitted a new fitting kit, as the original arms were heavily corroded with holes, making them unsafe. We also carried out a few additional repairs to get it back up to MOT standard.
