Fortunately, there was very little scoring of the drum, probably because the brake cable was seized!.

This is what happens when you don't stow your jockey wheel properly. When raising it wind the lower part up as far as possible, checking to ensure it is located in the upper part. Tap the handle to lock the mechanism and then undo the clamp handle to raise the outer part. Make sure the wheel is facing backwards!

This Bateson 26TP paid its annual visit for a service last week. Everything in order apart from one leaking wheel bearing. Tyres, lights, brakes all in good condition. The 26TP is an 8 x 4 2600kg trailer with tilt body. Ideal for machinery with low ground clearance. It's available in lengths up to 12' and widths up to 6'6". This little ramp tailed van trailer has come in for a new floor and not before time.
Very rotten at the rear corners, more like flaky pastry than plywood. A new, 12mm sheet floor will be fitted so that our customer can enjoy taking his motorcycle to events again

This 7-metre car transporter arrived needing major attention.

🔧 Rusted brake adjusters
🔧 Seized auto-reverse mechanisms
🔧 Cut and damaged brake cables
🔧 Bent main brake rod
🔧 Three new hubs
🔧 New brake shoes throughout
🔧 New coupling and jockey wheel

It's taken a lot of work to bring this trailer back from the brink, but it's now heading back to its owner for the next stage of its restoration.

Not every trailer repair is a quick fix.

🚨 Would these pass a roadside check?
These tyres were removed from a tri-axle car transporter brought in for a routine service.

Much of the tread was already close to the legal limit and in places, below it.
The trailer was being used commercially, which means that had the DVSA stopped the combination, the fine could’ve been considerable.

The tyres were replaced and the trailer fully inspected, now safe, legal, and back to work.

If your trailer is out on the road regularly, it’s worth a check.

This Bateson Ascot might look immaculate… because it is 👌

Owned from new since 2014 and always stored undercover, this trailer came in for a full service this week

New tyres fitted due to age and perishing
A couple of stiff brake cables were replaced
Rear light repaired and front light contacts cleaned up

Good maintenance shows
The bearings and brake linings were still in excellent condition
