We're making room for more! 🔧

With our range of trailer parts and towing equipment continuing to grow, we decided it was time for a bit of a storage upgrade.

So we've collected this rather impressive load of long-span shelving to help us make better use of the space in our workshop.

More shelving, more storage and more room for the products our customers need.

Now comes the fun part… putting it all together! 😂

Now that's something you don't see in the workshop every day! 🚣

This rather unusual trailer belongs to a local rowing club and is designed to transport boats up to an impressive 14 metres long!

Built back in 1996, it's now 30 years old, but we're pleased to say it's been well looked after and was in good condition overall.

Just a few jobs needed our attention:

🔧 A couple of electrical faults sorted
🔧 Brake shoes replaced
🔧 General servicing and checks completed

And it's ready to get back to transporting boats for the rowing club.

Proof that with the right care and maintenance, a trailer can keep doing its job for decades.

October is Tyre Safety Month 🛞

We're proud to support the NTTA and TyreSafe in reminding everyone just how important tyre checks are, whether they're on your car, van or trailer.

This year's message is simple: ACT before you REACT.

Before you tow, check:

✅ Air pressure
✅ Condition – look for cracks, perishing, bulges or damage
✅ Tread

And don't forget tyre age. We regularly see trailers with plenty of tread remaining but tyres that are many years old and badly perished.

Your trailer tyres are carrying the load too. Give them the same attention you give the tyres on your tow vehicle.

Check them before every journey.

Not something we see in the workshop every day! 👀

This unusual little car transporter has been purpose-built to carry a pre-war Austin Seven, just 12ft long and 4ft 3in wide.

It's a recent purchase for our customer, so it came to us for a service and general check-over before being put to use.

The good news? Everything was in excellent order. We only needed to replace the number plate bulb and added a couple of amber reflectors on each side for extra visibility.

There was one thing worth flagging, though…

The tyres had plenty of tread, but they were 15 years old.

A good reminder that tread depth isn't the only thing that determines whether a trailer tyre is past its best. TyreSafe

Planning a long road trip? This is why you check the trailer BEFORE you go. 😬

This 3,000kg boat trailer was destined for Europe, but there were a few fairly major problems standing in its way.

Seized coupling.
Seized brakes.
Brake backplates rusted away.
And the brake shoes had previously been removed completely.

We've now fitted two new galvanised 1,500kg axles, a new 3,000kg pole coupling, brake cables, compensator and main brake rod.

That's quite a bit of work, but far better to discover it here than hundreds of miles from home.

Now it's ready for its European adventure. 🚤

A worn tyre was the clue. This was the problem. 👀

This came out of the brake drum of a 3,500kg trailer after the owner noticed one tyre wearing badly.

The brake had been dragging and the mechanism inside had completely destroyed itself.

Not only could that brake lock intermittently, the damage meant the trailer wasn't getting the braking performance it should have been.

And that's why you don't ignore the warning signs.

Uneven tyre wear, excessive heat, dragging or unusual behaviour from your trailer? Get it investigated.

We do have some lovely customers! 😊

One of our Lithuanian customers arrived to collect his trailer and very kindly brought us a couple of gifts from home.

A traditional Lithuanian cake and a bottle of Lithuanian spirit, although we were warned the latter tastes a bit like Grandfather's cough mixture! 😂

We're yet to decide whether that's a recommendation or a warning...

Would you trust this trailer floor with another load? 👀

We wouldn't.

This hard-working trailer arrived for a major service and repairs, and the floor was well past the point of saving.

So we stripped out the old flooring and fitted a complete replacement, along with new lamps, wheels and tyres.

The difference speaks for itself.

A trailer doesn't have to be new to have plenty of useful life left in it , sometimes it just needs the right repairs.
