A massive massive congratulations to Charlie who passed his driving test yesterday on the 1st attempt with zero driving faults otherwise known as 0 minors. This achievement in plain English is basically as rare as rocking horse doo doo’s. The stats for this is actually 2.6% of learner drivers passing their test this way. And another record for me too. 10 passes on the trot. So yesterday was a great day for both of us. Enjoy your licence Charlie you did outstanding. Thanks for the lovely card, Guiness and cider Charlie. I will enjoy.

A super well done to a superb pupil. Turned up every week. Put 100% effort into her driving even though some days the anxiety levels lifted we adapted the lesson to her level on that day. The result- a 1st time pass with an amazing 3 minors. An amazing drive as I was in the back of the car for moral support. Congratulations Alyssa and enjoy the freedom of having a driving licence.

I want to shout out about Summer (not the season but this wonderful young lady) she has had the most awful time learning to drive yet every week without fail she turned up and put her absolute all into this journey, and I do mean absolute whole. This young lady could not have done more to learn to drive. She listened to every word, every briefing, every criticism constructively and took it all on the chin. Made huge mistakes, cried out of frustration on mistakes that others would seem simple to do yet Summer struggled. We stopped, let the tears flow and then subside and simply carried on. 100% from both side of the car. Never did Summer not put in 100%, NEVER. When her 6th form changed her rota it left her in a predicament that she could not carry on her driving lessons with me as I don’t work the day she could only do. She panicked about changing instructors. I thought about it and decided to carry on the next 5 months working a day I do not do simply because Summer would struggle changing instructors. I had my reward last Wednesday when she passed 1st time with an amazing 5 minor faults. I cannot convey into words how this made me feel. The connection we had as pupil teacher was amazing, she trusted me fully and I let her go with the reins so to speak. I still cannot put into words how this young lady performed and fought her battles in her head because of anxiety and yet she still came every week. She took a weekend job just to pay for her lesson. Worked all weekend for a 2 hour lesson. Wow. What fantastic ethics she has got. Any future employer will have a star of an employee if they support her right, she will be an amazing employee. And now she has the freedom of driving, the chance to make that employer want to employ her. The chance when she decides to have a family to transport her children to clubs and social events. All because she put in the effort to gain a driving licence even when on a slippery slope on occasions. Summer, I am proud of you and you made me a very happy man last week. 5 minors, 1st time pass. Well done. 👏

Huge massive gigantic well done to Josie who passed her test first time with 3 minors, conquering her huge anxieties in difficult situations as well as the icing on the cake being autistic. When someone like Josie passes their driving test it gives me a warm glowing feeling (and no not because I’m trying to find the nearest toilet) but because sometimes people conquer what they think is impossible. What fantastic week we had this past week. Firstly on Tuesday we had Megan set the president by passing first time with 4 minors and then also on Tuesday Kitty passed first time with 3 minors. On Wednesday Carrieann passed first time with just 2 minors. All 3 of these pupils suffered from anxiety and as you can imagine on test day nerves were through the roof. But all 3 managed to keep calm enough to concentrate on what matters and thats where it counts.

This is Carol. Carol has been learning with me for 23 months, so this has by no means been a quick process. She has had many instructors in the past but because she suffers from extreme anxiety and agoraphobia carol has some serious battles to conquer whilst learning to drive. I sat in the back of your test and watched the awesomeness unfold as you drove around taking in everything I had taught you. In my 18 years as a driving instructor I have never welled up when someone passes their test but today I did, I felt totally emotional when we stopped at the end of the test and the examiner told her she had passed with 6 minor faults. And to add to this amazing story it was her first ever test. This lady is a true inspiration to anyone that suffers from any form of condition that makes learning to drive difficult. We became great friends every Monday morning and I will truly miss her whinging and moaning (hahahaha), we shared some real stories including from the start of my solar panel addiction to where it is now. Carol you really are an amazing lovely person that has kicked this fear of driving into oblivion to which you fully fully deserve. Good luck with everything thats coming up soon and I hope it's great news. Take care and thank you for letting me be your driving instructor its been a blast.
