🚔 Monkmoor: Will we see the same proactive approach?

It’s good to see West Mercia Police taking action in Shrewsbury Town Centre after concerns were raised about the dangerous use of electric scooters.
Police have reported that officers seized two privately owned e-scooters after finding four children riding them at speed through busy pedestrian areas. This is exactly the sort of proactive action residents want to see when there are clear safety concerns.

But it also raises an important question for Monkmoor:

👉 Will similar proactive patrols and enforcement be carried out in our community?
Residents in Monkmoor regularly raise concerns about anti-social behaviour, dangerous and inconsiderate driving, speeding, electric scooters, nuisance behaviour and other issues affecting our streets and public spaces.

It is positive to see the police responding to concerns in the town centre, but we need to see that same proactive approach across our neighbourhoods — including Monkmoor.

As a local councillor, I will be asking our local policing team what action is planned for Monkmoor and whether patrols can be targeted at the areas where residents are reporting problems.

“You said, we did” is a good approach — but residents need to see it happening in their communities too.

If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour or other issues in Monkmoor, please continue to report them. The more incidents that are reported, the clearer the picture becomes for the police when deciding where resources and patrols are needed.
