Anyone who knows us knows we don’t take many holidays… and when we do, we somehow still end up surrounded by engines 😂

Our annual Silverstone trip, and this time we’re staying at Escapade Silverstone. Honestly, the accommodation is stunning. Sitting right trackside, watching the cars from the balcony with everything Silverstone literally on the doorstep… it doesn’t get much better for us.

We weren’t really sure what to expect before we got here, but the whole place is so well done. The apartment is beautiful and the trackside setting just makes it. Definitely glad we decided to give it a try.

A few days away from trucks and trailers, but clearly we can’t manage a proper holiday without something mechanical being involved 😂

Big bro & little bro

With another employee now in our workshop, we’ve added a second breakdown van to the fleet.

So that’s now two of us out covering breakdowns — although one van has definitely had more weetabix than the other!

Both are ready to get you moving when things go wrong. They’re still waiting on their livery facelifts, but for now they’re out doing what they do best.

**JOB VACANCY**

We are a small family-run business in Shotts with plans to grow, and we are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our team.

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to be more than just a number. You will be joining a close-knit friendly business where your work matters, your standards are noticed, and you can play a key role as the company continues to develop.

The role will involve maintaining, diagnosing and repairing HGVs, both in the workshop and out on the road. You will also occasionally attend vehicle breakdowns during normal working hours and provide out-of-hours breakdown cover when on call.

A key part of the role will be preparing vehicles for MOT to a high standard, with a strong focus on achieving an excellent MOT pass rate.

You must be confident working independently, but also able to follow instruction.

Duties will include:

Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
Attending roadside breakdowns during the working day
Providing out-of-hours breakdown support when on call
Carrying out safety inspections and routine maintenance
Preparing vehicles for MOT to an excellent standard
Maintaining a strong MOT first-time pass rate
Completing digital job cards and service records accurately
Managing your own workload during holiday cover
Working safely and to a high standard

Working hours and on-call:

The standard working week is 45 hours, Monday to Friday.

Shift pattern:
Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00

There will be the occasional Saturday required, only where the workload dictates it, and you will be included in an on-call rota once every 3 weeks.

When on call, you will receive a weekly on-call payment.

Requirements:

Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic
HGV licence required
Excellent MOT preparation skills
Proven ability to maintain a high MOT pass rate
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Ability to work independently when attending breakdowns
Ability to work autonomously and manage workload during holiday cover
Good understanding of vehicle safety standards
Own tools required

We know we only seem to pop up once in a blue moon these days 😅 purely down to how busy we’ve been – but we couldn’t let Christmas pass without wishing you all a Merry Christmas🎄

It’s been a busy, busy year and we are beyond grateful to every single customer who’s supported us. We honestly wouldn’t be here without you.

DG also treated himself to a new van a few months back so keep an eye out for it in the New Year once it’s glammed up!

🚛💥 DIRTY DIESEL STRIKES AGAIN! 💥🚛

Check out what we pulled from one of our recent jobs! The fuel filter was completely clogged, and the diesel tank had a nasty buildup of sludge and contamination. This is a classic case of dirty diesel causing havoc.
