**JOB VACANCY**
We are a small family-run business in Shotts with plans to grow, and we are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our team.

The role will involve maintaining, diagnosing and repairing HGVs, both in the workshop and out on the road. You will also occasionally attend vehicle breakdowns during normal working hours and provide out-of-hours breakdown cover when on call.
A key part of the role will be preparing vehicles for MOT to a high standard, with a strong focus on achieving an excellent MOT pass rate.
You must be confident working independently, but also able to follow instruction.
Duties will include:
Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
Attending roadside breakdowns during the working day
Providing out-of-hours breakdown support when on call
Carrying out safety inspections and routine maintenance
Preparing vehicles for MOT to an excellent standard
Maintaining a strong MOT first-time pass rate
Completing digital job cards and service records accurately
Managing your own workload during holiday cover
Working safely and to a high standard
Working hours and on-call:
The standard working week is 45 hours, Monday to Friday.
Shift pattern:
Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00
There will be the occasional Saturday required, only where the workload dictates it, and you will be included in an on-call rota once every 3 weeks.
When on call, you will receive a weekly on-call payment.

Requirements:
Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic
HGV licence required
Excellent MOT preparation skills
Proven ability to maintain a high MOT pass rate
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Ability to work independently when attending breakdowns
Ability to work autonomously and manage workload during holiday cover
Good understanding of vehicle safety standards
Own tools required
