2020 Velar in from a Trade Customer.

This vehicle had a number of issues, all related to the Alarm/Locking/Key Detection, & both Rear Door Handles not Retracting.

Now, this one had been looked at, by at least 2 other people, one being an "Automotive Locksmith" 🔑

The door handles was a simple fix, the rolling code for the immobiliser was incorrect. A simple laptop software fix for this.

The keyless detection was a little odd though. One remote worked on the locking, the other didn't, but neither could be detected by the car for proximity. So the only way to start the vehicle was with the override on the steering column.

Zero fault codes for anything related to the faults either, & all antennas were working correctly.

Sometimes your gut tells you where to look, & as we thought, someone had had a go at trying to program another key, via soldering direct to the RFA (Key Module). This one was proper bodge job 🫠

A new RFA fitted & programmed via OBD, this vehicle also had a locked BCM because of the latest security updates. A Genuine Remote supplied at the same time, to replace the Chinese copy key, which had possibly caused all the issues in the first place.

2024 Jaguar F-Pace with Charge System Fault.

This vehicle was having some work done elsewhere, when something occurred, & an Electrical Fault was accidentally introduced into the Hybrid System.

After carrying out a thorough diagnosis, it was confirmed the 12v Li-Ion starter battery had been shorted out against the HV Battery.

New Starter Battery fitted & the vehicle programmed.

All charging systems tested & a road tested carried out, everything was back to normal.

Genuine Remotes & a new RFA for this Evoque after the customer had some issues with the remotes that came with the vehicle.

It had already had 2 "cloned" cheap remotes, one of which had never worked, & the other was now working less than it was working. It was decided to replace the RFA with 2 Genuine remotes as the previous RFA had been tampered with to program the cheap style remotes.

All carried out with Genuine Software, to the latest level Security level as per JLR protocol.

Freelander 1 Td4, Roll Cage Installation, but try & keep as much of the original trim fitted as possible.

That was the brief, this customer is looking to take part in some Off Road Challenges, but, also uses this car daily, & should the worse happen, wanted to be safe.

So, we now have a Safety Devices full internal cage, with custom seat bases, bucket seats, & 99.9% of the interior trim retained, which was an absolute mission 😆

These Motorsport Guys & Girls have got it easy with a bare shell & no trim 😅




(The Fire Extinguisher wasn't installed by us, & has now been relocated).

Discovery 5 in for a Llams Suspension Height Controller kit.

A brace of DCDC Converters being replaced on these MHEV Discovery 5's.

This DCDC issue is well documented, is it a previous Software update that has caused all the failures, is it a component fault, or, is it just that vehicles are now relying on electronics way too much?

Who knows...
But this is how we fix them.

Replacing the DCDC itself, will get the charging system working, but there are upto 4 Software updates required across 4 different modules to ensure its done correctly ✅️
