Rainham Center Cruisers

Rainham Center Cruisers Our informal group of automotive enthusiasts hosts Selkirk Friday Night Cruise Nights in downtown Selkirk, Ontario during the summer months.

Look for event news on Facebook at : Selkirk Cruise Nights. Our Cruise Nights were originally hosted by Mike & Katie Balogh, proprietors of the Rainham Dairy Freeze in Rainham, Ontario, starting in the summer of 2015. There was an original core group of about 10 Cruisers, and Mike generously made up jackets for us. This Thursday night Cruise grew from it's beginnings to peak in 2018 with about 30

cars attending each week, though we did have one spectacular evening with over 50! With the sale of the Dairy Freeze at the end of the 2018 season, Bill Green and Peter Reisiger decided to continue hosting the event and move the Cruise Night to every other Friday evening in July and August at the parking lot at the corner of Regional Roads #3 & #53 in downtown Selkirk. Meghan Mitchell's "Scoop & Bean" provided us with hotdogs, sausages and ice cream that first summer. With the onset of COVID-19, we flew under the radar in June & July 2020, then opened up once crowd size restrictions loosened up in August. The August 21st evening saw 66 vehicles on display, the final event on September 4th we had 87! Sadly, 2020 saw the loss of founding member Dean Knowles in January and Jim Bryce in late July. They will be missed ...

Wow, 87 cars, trucks and hotrods at our final cruise of the 2020 season. Thankyou all for coming out and supporting our event, for your kind donations of door prizes and contributions to our piggy bank, which we’ll put towards some fabulous door prizes for 2021. And from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much for the special t-shirt and thankyou card signed by so many of you. It was my pleasure to organize and promote this cruise, but, it could not have happened without YOU !!! Like it says on the back of the shirt: Despite the virus, we still showed up!
