*Kirton in Lindsey*... Called Out to Replace Brake Caliper on this Mercedes... seems another Mechanic had been out to change front pads... broke the Pins, made this mess & then left the customer stranded...
2nd hand caliper fitted, brakes bled, customer VERY Happy...

Cabin Filter was Definitely In Need of Replacement... Customer bought car a few months ago with FULL SERVICE HISTORY?? perhaps they couldn't find the Cabin Filter? 🤷🙈

*Ashby* Called out to fit a starter motor... customer said its not the battery as that has over 12 volts so must be the starter motor...

As always ran a Full BATTERY/STARTER/ALTERNATOR Test...

Good job I did, as the photo shows battery was a relatively healthy 12.55 volts, BUT under load the cranking power dropped to less than ONE THIRD of its capacity...

New battery supplied & fitted... retested & all OK...

Another HAPPY CUSTOMER 🙏

*BARTON*... Interesting Aircon Problem Here...

I was booked to do a Nitrogen/UV Dye leak test, as customer had Aircon filled recently & it was still blowing warm... As always I first performed a Vacuum & emptied the system... I was amazed to find I'd removed 900grams of gas from a system that only needs 530g to operate properly... too Much gas won't allow the gases to move correctly within the system...

Performed a leak test then filled with the correct amount of gas & the pictures speak for themselves... icy cold... The previous place must have just added gas without checking if there was any still remaining?...

Too Much gas is just as bad as not enough gas...

*MOBILE AIRCON* yet another Mobile Leak-Test & recharge Air Conditioning on this car... We ALWAYS hold a vacuum for at least 30mins before a Recharge to try & eliminate any possible leaks.

Great Inside/Outside difference here ❄️❄️❄️

*SHOCKING*... This mess is what Greeted me AFTER the customer had paid out £200 For a NEW Battery & FITTING 👀😬😬....

Customer paid a "major retailer" online to supply & fit a new battery to her 'stranded' car...
"Installer" came out, fitted the battery then proceeded to jump start the vehicle, left it running & left. Customer moves across the carpark & the vehicle stalls & refuses to turn over... Quick call to the fitter, he returns & jump starts the car again, Customer asks if its gonna be ok now? "Oh your gonna need a mechanic to sort that" & leaves.

So whats here.

Firstly a VERY burnt out terminal which is unable to tighten onto the battery.

Secondly the TWO corroded wires that had broken away from the terminal.

Third THE MAJOR live wire feeding the whole car was corroded and most of the INSULATION was melted off due to the resistance.

And FINALLY how could any professional leave THAT MESS?

Replaced +ve terminal, Cleaned main wire & recovered insulation/ heat shrink, cleaned & fitted new terminals to the broken wires, removed battery & thoroughly cleaned all the corrosion/ battery acid mess up. This battery is mounted in the BOOTSPACE right behind a CHILD SEAT...
After all this carried out a full diagnostic scan, re-set all parameters & then took the car for a Good TEST DRIVE just to be sure...

Needless to say one very happy customers (& toddler) back mobile again.

Speechless, just Speechless 🙈
