⚡Old School Repairing⚡

🚙Ford Ranger Diff Housing Cap Repair 😎

We love a challenge. Often taking on the work that other for whatever reason don't want/need etc. It keeps things interesting and gives us the chance to tap into our engineering background. Where things are very rarely unrepairable... As they say nothings impossible?

Our client came to us, after going around the Scarborough area asking various garages and engineering firms, if they'd be able to repair the diff cap on this Ranger. After no success and lots of chatting with others, who are knowledgeable of this platform it became clear, this was a recurring problem. Usually leading to people buying refurbished or second hand units at great expense. When the cost out weighs the value of the vehicle it usually leads too the scrappy 😭

Well we're not having it! Can't beat a utility vehicle for a busy daily life! It's essentially a Swiss army knife. So we cut off the corroded cap made from rust and paper mache and got busy repairing it for a very small fortune 💸 The way things used to be, in keeping with our ethos of repairing what we can, and also what we can't, until we can 😂

Can't beat the small successes! After a leak testing and a small rear end service it was back to life as usual 💪✅👌

⚡AMG Alloy wheel Repair⚡

Nothing worse than rushing around to get to work and finding you've got a flat tyre!

Fortunately, it's one of the many services we can offer you!
Quick phone call and we got it back to them, ready to fit within a couple hours. 🤙

All the old material removed and the end of the crack, drilled to relieve any stress. A good clean up and we're ready to hit it with the TIG 😁💪

⚡The Dreaded NSR Quarter⚡

Who doesn't love a little French hothatch 🔥Well given the fact we're massive baguette fans around here, we would say that? 🤔😜

Unfortunately though, these 90s beauties are now likely needing repair. As with all manufacturers there's weak links in the chain of design somewhere. For these though it's the dreaded NSR quarter amongst a few others. Fortunately, our client knew about this before bringing it to us. So there was no nasty surprises. 😎

Interior out, then to the drawing board to fabricate a new panel to replace the old one! Couple of cuts here, a dab with the welder there. Few whacks with the hammer and we're done! ✅💯

A bit of something different this morning. After wanting to visit the national coal mining museum for a long time! Finally went on the the weekend! 😂 Not only that, the weather was insane and we stumbled upon Leeds cruise on the way home 😉👌

All in all, brilliant day out. Experienced some of our British heritage, got to see some of the of machinery and equipment we used to work on previous to our lives at SD. Stopped off for some food at the services, only to stumble upon a great gathering of custom cars 🥺

Well, I couldn't say no to that! Chucked up a couple pics for you all to see 😜🤟

Now on the business side of things.. tis the time of year that we most get to enjoy our cars. I'm sure alot of you will have blown away the winter cobwebs on your classics/show cars. Please give the fuel lines the good once over! Too many beautiful classics are lost in fires mainly down to poor maintenance.

Bank Holiday weekend 🤟

⚡Tackling the grubby headliner⚡

Sunny Scarborough didn't disappoint! Barely any rain on a bank holiday weekend? What's all that about? 😂👌

Anyway, it gave us a minute to finally sort the miss match interior on our SD Seat Arosa build. Out with the old and in with the new! As they say. We replaced the grubby looking grey headliner with a more modern looking version. After all blacks very forgiving with us blue collar workers 😂🛠️

We didn't stop there though! A nice sound system upgrade and some rear speakers fitted. Now we can have the radio on while running errands 😉

We also managed to sort the faulty heaters, as they'd been stuck on full heat since we've had it. Not ideal when summers just around the corner. Nice black parcel shelf to suit the MK4 golf and lupo Gti leathers 👌

Few little goodies on order, next to sort that exhaust...

⚡The Iansfield Discount⚡

As we all know, times are tough right now. What with the cost of living increasing, it means we've all got to graft that little bit more in order to maintain our balance. With this in mind, we sat down to figure out how we could help those around us! 🙏

When we first started out at Iansfield Industrial Park, we were helped alot by the influx of work from those also on the industrial estate. Vehicles are absolutely vital for small businesses and keeping them on the road and earning there keep is a matter of importance for anybody. Smaller towns like ours thrive of entrepreneurs and with the struggle can come closer. 😔

So, with that in mind we will be offering an Iansfield discount to all of those on our estate, as a thank you and aid for success. We like to do our part where we can, so it'll be a 20% Discount on Labour going forward! 💯🤟

⚡The Eco burner⚡

Okay, we've been away from the socials! Did you miss us? 😂

Unfortunately, the mighty Bora daily. Is no longer with us, with it's stunningly good looks and it's 300k on the clock. I think it's done us well, don't worry she's not dead. She's just gone to a friend of ours! 👌🤟

Anyway, with that in mind this is the new SD Daily driver 🤙 An equally stunning Seat Arosa 1.4 TDI S! We couldn't not have another PD 😉

The little Arosa came to us with a suspected injector fault, unfortunately after a little nosey around, we found the cambelt had skipped 4 teeth 😔

With these things being a little different, frugal and now with its fate in the balance. We couldn't see it go to waste, it's the perfect daily! After, a few negotiations, the Arosa was ours! 😜

£165 later for a new motor, a trip to Wakefield, w Few late nights, and little elbow grease and here she is! We've added a few tasty extras along the way because, racecar... 😷 Daily?

We managed to source a rare caractere spoiler, some beautiful Intra wheels, a GTi rear axle and a custom made RS front lip. Plus a couple easy editions like caliper paint, service items and ofcourse the tiny steering wheel 👀 only seemed fitting...

We've got more to come on little blue 💙 keep those eyes peeled 🤧

⚡Our opening hours are changing! ⚡

Just a quick one to let everyone know, we're changing our hours of operation here at Unit 4. This is to meet demand of our customers for weekend work, visitations, quotes and breakdowns.

So, from this week we will be open every Saturday from 9-5 and instead closed every Wednesday and Sunday.

We understand that many of you work during the week and are unable to pop in due to other commitments. We're hoping this should open abit of flexibility as part of our service 💯

⚡ Maintenance & servicing ⚡

Well that's it folks! We've had 3 days on the trot of sunshine,and so that marks the beginning of spring/summer in our eyes! Crack out the sunnies and flip flops, we're off! 😉☀️

If only it where that easy! With the change in the weather, comes a change in demand for our vehicles as we swap heat for cold. The thing is when it's nice, sun's out and you got everything else to worry about. It's easy to fall behind on simple maintenance, problem being that we rely on our cars so much these days, so when they eventually breakdown, it's like we've lost an arm! 💪

It's unlikely, all cars will be gone of the road anytime soon, so your in it for the long game, possibly the 2nd biggest investment you'll make in life. So a little love can go a long way. Spend a penny to save a pound ✅

⚡Cracked Alloy Wheel Repair⚡

☀️Golf R alloy wheels☀️

Straight to it! Customer got in touch with complaints of his rear nearside tyre going flat overnight. Unfortunately, that's not something you want when your up and out for work! 😅

Not a problem 👌 We set straight to work to figure out the issue. After a quick spray over to make sure the tyre was in tact. We whipped it off to find a big crack along the back side of the rim. Noone wants to shop around for a wheel. So we did what we know best and grabbed the welding set. 💪👍

After a quick NDT to see just how far the crack had spread. We dug it all out and drilled the end of the crack to make sure it didn't spread. All welded up and dressed flat, it's like Brand new. Tyre back on and a quick balance and we're back on the road! 😎💯

⚡Sheet metal fabrication and welding courses? ⚡

So, we've always been a firm believer in working on your own pride and joy. As we all know restoration can be an expensive way to give a vehicle another lease of life. Obviously for every person who's keen to have ago themselves there's equally a person who lacks the confidence, knowledge and direction.

With that in mind, we're in the very early stages of offering our own welding courses, to suit. We've spoke to alot of people over the years that have displayed an interest in courses. As we know alot of the college's , training centers in the area cater to industrial welding. Now that's fantastic, if your looking to move trades etc. Unfortunately, sheet metal work and industrial welding couldn't be further from each other. Never mind, when you introduce a car into the mix, with complex curves, templating etc etc. 🙈

So we'd be looking at filling that gap, a vehicle focussed welding and fabrication course. Using the old school techniques that where used in the production of our cherished cars. Taught to you by qualified engineers and welders that have worked on both sides of the fence... 👨‍🏭👩‍🏭

With the current economic climate in mind, we're looking to give back to the car community and share our knowledge and skills to preserve a common goal that we all love! Cars! 😍
