Merry Christmas here from everybody at Ultra Mechanix Ltd.Thank you so much for your continued support through what’s been an extremely difficult year for everyone.

We are taking a few days off but will be back open on the 29th & 30th December on normal hours before closing again until January 4th.

Enjoy your rest everybody x

Good afternoon everyone & i hope you are all keeping well.

I am sure you’re all aware of the new Government guidlines mentioned by our PM yesterday evening & we said that we would wait until further updates before deciding our next move.

It is with that in mind that i have decided to re-open on Monday 25th May from 8am.

Please bear with us as initially until we build up our diary i will be operating on my own & i will look to bring Sean & Graham back as soon as i can.

However i must make you aware of a few operational changes to the Business that we have made to try & increase safety to not only ourselves but our customers.

Our office door will remain locked preventing entry & we will have a chain across the garage opening.

Customers will be greeted from a distance, details taken & car keys will be dropped in our letterbox.

Any updates throughout the day will be done by phone/text as per normal & on completion of the work we will call you to arrange payment.

For now we kindly ask that payment be made by Bacs transfer or over the phone & you’re paperwork will be placed on the passenger seat.

In terms of cleanliness, latex gloves will be worn at all times as well as seat covers/steering wheel & wing covers & floor mats as per normal.

You’re keys will be cleaned with anti-bacterial spray & placed somewhere for you to collect on arrival to the garage to encourage a completely contactless experience.

As you can appreciate we will initially be trying to fill a completely empty diary from scratch so bookings will be staggered over days.

I will do my best to try & meet demands but initially it may be difficult to undertake numerous running faults/breakdowns as you can appreciate but once we are fully staffed normal service will resume.

I would like to personally thank you on behalf of everyone here at Ultra Mechanix & i hope to see you in the not too distance future!

Stay Safe & Stay Alert!

Just a recent update everybody from this morning. Please don’t panic if your Mot is about to run out!

Guidance
Coronavirus (COVID-19): MOTs for cars, vans and motorcycles due from 30 March 2020
What will happen if your car, van or motorcycle’s MOT due date is on or after 30 March 2020, including what you need to do to keep your vehicle safe to drive.

This page tells you about the extension of MOT due dates due to coronavirus (COVID-19). It will be updated if anything changes.

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months. This is being done to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

There’s separate guidance about what to do if your MOT due date is up to and including 29 March 2020.

There are different temporary rules for MOT tests for lorries, buses and trailers.
What you need to do
You do not need to do anything to extend your vehicle’s MOT expiry date if it’s on or after 30 March 2020. However, you must keep your vehicle safe to drive.

Your vehicle will be automatically given a 6-month MOT exemption. This will extend your current MOT expiry date by 6 months.

Example
Your vehicle’s MOT was due to expire on 3 April 2020.

This will automatically be extended to 3 October 2020. You will need to get your MOT by this date.
You can check your MOT history to see when you have been issued an exemption. It will not be updated straight away, so keep checking back if your new due date MOT is not yet showing.

You will not get a paper exemption certificate.
If your vehicle tax is due, you can tax your vehicle as soon as your MOT due date has been updated.

If your vehicle’s first MOT is due
Your vehicle will be automatically given a 6-month MOT exemption from the date its first MOT was due.

If your first MOT was due before 30 March 2020 and your vehicle did not pass
Your vehicle will not get an extension to its MOT due date.

Your vehicle will need to pass an MOT before you can drive it again.

The government is allowing MOT centres and garages to remain open. So you can still get an MOT if you need your vehicle:

to shop for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
for any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
to travel to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home
Read the full guidance on staying at home and away from others.

Keep your vehicle safe to drive
You must make sure your vehicle is safe to drive (‘roadworthy’). It can be unsafe even if your MOT expiry date has been extended.

Find out how to check your vehicle is safe and read the rules about vehicle maintenance, safety and security.

You can be fined up to ÂŁ2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

You should still take your vehicle to be repaired at the nearest open garage. The government is allowing them to remain open.

Good morning everybody. As i am sure you are all aware yesterday we received quite a significant update from our PM yesterday with regards to Convid-19.

Although we as a garage are still classed as essential on the Direct Gov website & are not required to close i really do feel that i am left with no option than to do the complete opposite.

I feel that i have to put my own safety as well as my work colleagues & our customers first.

Today,Tuesday 24th March, sadly will be our final day for the foreseeable future,we will honor the work that is already booked in today & do our very best to complete it all, ready for you to collect.

For any work that cannot be completed, the car will remain mobile for you & we will give you the opportunity to collect today.

If you are coming down today can i please ask you to respect some new safety rules that we are implementing on our final day.

When you come down to the garage, please do NOT enter the office, respect the 2 metre rule. We will come and greet you & take details at the front entrance of the garage from a distance & you may put the keys in our letterbox.

Once the work is completed we will contact you & ask that you either make a Bacs payment or pay by card over the phone. We will NOT be accepting on site card/cash payments.

All paperwork will be left in the car on the passenger seat & can be explained over the telephone.

We also will not allow customers to wait in the office for work to be completed, this includes Mot's.If you have a waiting mot we will ask you to wait outside or go for a stroll.

For traders, please do not enter the workshop unless authorised & we will bring any cars/keys out that you may require.

I understand that these rules may sound harsh but i can assure you that i do not take this situation lightly & it is only in everybody's best health interests.

Thank you so much for all your continued support & understanding.Stay safe & we will see you over the other side stronger than ever!

While i am at it with announcements i will “announce” that a very good friend of mine & extremely skilled Technician,Sean Warne has joined our business.I do apologise for the late announcement,he actually joined in Jan 2017!

We are thrilled to have him on board...he adds a vast amount of experience, over 22 years 15 of those with the Volkswagen brand alone!

Since joining the business he has helped push us to the next level & has also re-assigned his mot qualification which allows us to offer you an mot service on any Saturday wether it is myself or Sean carrying out the test.

I welcome him publicly on board & for those of you who haven’t met him....unlike myself he is an extremely likeable & helpful character!
