⚠️ THIS is why thoroughly checking a used horsebox matters…

At first glance, this ramp didn’t look particularly alarming — but something about it just didn’t feel right to us.

So we investigated further.

Once the rubber matting was removed, we found what can only be described as a seriously inadequate repair underneath. A soft/damaged section of the ramp had been covered over using pieces of board/cardboard, tape and a metal plate before the matting was put back over the top.

From above, you would have had very little idea what was underneath.

🐴 Now imagine asking a 500kg+ horse to walk across it.

This is exactly why our inspections go further than simply checking that the lights work and the brakes operate. Floors, ramps, panels, fixings and previous repairs all need to be properly assessed — particularly when something doesn’t look or feel quite right.

There was only one solution for this one.

🔧 The old ramp panel was completely removed and replaced properly using genuine Ifor Williams replacement parts.

No covering it up.
No shortcuts.
No passing the problem on to the next owner.

Used horseboxes will inevitably require maintenance as they get older — that’s completely normal. What matters is that repairs are carried out properly and safely.

🚨 NEW FOREST WILDFIRES – FREE HORSE TRANSPORT HELP 🚨

With the terrible wildfires currently affecting the New Forest after this prolonged spell of hot, dry weather, we want to offer whatever help we can to local horse owners who may be affected.

🐴 Paddock & Tow currently has TWO horse trailers available and we are able to help move your horses, donkeys, sheep or any other animals FREE OF CHARGE.

If you need to move horses away from an affected or at-risk area, we can help:

• Borrow one of our horse trailers if you have a suitable tow vehicle
• We can come and tow your horse(s) for you if you don’t have transport available
• Both trailers are available for emergency evacuation/relocation

There will be NO charge for this. We simply want to help horses and their owners get somewhere safe.

Please message Paddock & Tow if you need help, or if you know somebody in the New Forest area who does.

If the situation is urgent, please don’t worry about whether you’re “bad enough” to ask — get in touch and we’ll help if we possibly can.
