Our friends at Chippenham-Calne Rotary Club are once again running their Classic Run - they always manage to find roads which are not only picturesque but great fun to drive each year.

This year's event, which includes a coffee stop at Bowood House, is raising funds for The Rise Trust and local Rotary charities.

Just a quick heads up for all our Speed Championship competitors -

"Torbay Motor Club will organise & promote an Interclub Grade Sprint on the 24th May 2026, at Clay Pigeon Raceway, Wardon Hill, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 9PW

The entry list will open at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday 9th April and close at midnight on Friday 8th May (16 days before the event).

Entries will only be accepted online at www.torbaymotorclub.co.uk".

Notice for our Speed Championship competitors:

The 2026 Llandow Spring Sprint will be held on Saturday 30th May and Bristol Motor Club will be the sole organiser of the event.

Entries are as previous years via the "My Club House" website and will open on Friday 3rd April @ 19:00 and will close on Saturday 9th May @ 19:00.

The Spring event will the first of two events to be held at Llandow and as always is likely to be very popular so don’t forget to enter as soon as you can. Google "Bristol Motor Club" to get details of the event Regulations and how to enter.

This top event at Llandow will have a fabulous selection of machinery - and again will be a round of some great Championships including-

2026 Classic Marques Speed Challenge
2026 Porsche Club Speed Championship
2026 Downton Motor Club Speed Championship
2026 TR Register Triumph Speed Championship

For our new club competitors: Llandow is a very rewarding course with a long straight, a variety of fast bends, a tight chicane and a technical “bus stop” feature. The length of the course is about 1.8 miles, which is 1¾ laps of the circuit. Good cafe on site and camping next door :-)

We are pleased to announce that Downton Motor Club branded merchandise is now available to order!

We have teamed up with a well known local specialist called Giraffe Promotions who provide a great range of value for money merchandise. As many of you will know, Giraffe Promotions is run by our very own DMC club member Paul Wheatley. All merchandise is ordered / embroidered / shipped 'on demand' - this is ideal for DMC as we won't have money tied up in holding a stock of club merchandise.

Yes, you can now show your support for the Club with a superb range of merchandise bearing our distinctive club logo. You can also personalise your goodies by adding 'your name' underneath the logo or adding words like 'Speed Championship' under the logo - the choice of wording is yours. There is also a small section specifically for the 2026 Speed Champion competitors - smart hoodies and T-shirts with all the 2026 championship event dates printed on the back.....

There is a wide range of 16 different garments to choose from - many of which can be personalised. Check out the polo shirts, fleeces, gilets, hats, hoodies, beanies, soft shell jackets etc. Many are in a unisex fit - just right if you are looking for a unique present for the wife or girlfriend (or both?) :-)

Sad cancellation...

As you may know this years test day at Clay Pigeon has been cancelled because of lack of entries. The increase in insurance costs has been a major factor in pushing up the price over the years. Sadly the lack of entries this year means the day was just not financially viable.

Downton Motor Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew Pratt for all his hard work over many years in making this day at Clay Pigeon such a friendly and enjoyable way to blow off the winter cobwebs. It will be greatly missed.

Last few places left …. Be quick!

Once again Matt will be organising an early Sprint Test Day at the Clay Pigeon Raceway (A37 between Yeovil and Dorchester). The salient points are -

* Tuesday 17th March
* Motorsport UK license holders only
* Sprint format (one car on the track at a time)
* Limited to 35 drivers - so plenty of track time
* Cafe open on site
* Price £150 per driver
* Price Includes TPL insurance and medical support on site
