Dear friends and customers



After a run of staff absences and recent difficulties resulting in reduced staffing in recent months the directors have decided that it is no longer viable to continue servicing and repair of modern vehicles at The Motor Garage. This difficult decision has been cemented by the recent loss of two full time technicians and the planned relocation abroad of a third at a time when there is a recruitment crisis in the motor trade. It also comes at a time when our classic car workshop in Larkhill is the busiest it has been, and the strain of juggling two different businesses with different needs at two different sites with a depleted workforce has taken its toll.



As a result of this decision we are no longer taking future bookings for service and repair work on modern vehicles. We are continuing limited MOT testing by prior appointment for both modern and classic vehicles, however, if you have a modern vehicle we may not be able to fix your vehicle if it fails. If that is the case we would be happy to recommend reputable garages in the wider local area.



It has been over a decade since we saved The Motor Garage from closure and redevelopment by specialising in classic cars. This specialism enabled us to continue to provide a day to day community service for local customers' daily transport for as long as possible and gained national media attention. Particular credit goes to Vicky Beeson, and latterly Jordan Ardington, for building the reputation and turnover of the garage on both modern and classic vehicles over this time with fantastic Facebook and Google reviews. There are not many modern garages still operating out of WW1 era sheds - to say that it has been a challenge to have continued working on modern vehicles for so long would be an understatement!



The Motor Garage is 98 years old this year. Whilst our drop-in reception will close, our sheds will continue to render service supporting classic car restoration to our expanding sister business, Charles Russell Classic Cars, and we hope to have some exciting news to share on that front in the coming weeks. We are confident that these venerable old buildings will see out their centenary keeping "old-timers" on our roads and that we can mark the occasion with a celebration in 2026.



In the meantime, we are grateful for all the support of our modern car customers over the last 10 years, many of whom feel like family, as we reflect on the end of an era.

The Motor Garage is looking for a full time mechanic to join our team.
As we continue to expand the business we require a fully qualified mechanic that is confident in servicing, repairs, timing belts and clutches etc.

MOT qualification is preferred but not essential as training can be provided.

Rates of pay are negotiable depending on experience and skill set.

Netheravon Church Fete is this weekend and as usual there will be a vehicle section. We will be taking a few classics and look forward to seeing the other vehicles that attend!
