We regularly visit our key supply-chain partners to ensure they are committed to the same quality standards that made us choose them in the first place, and be reassured about their confidence in their ability to continue to exceed our expectations in meeting our requirements.

In the past few days, our collaborator Matteo Pilotto visited the FVS SPA service centre, our historical partner for pre-processing on steel profiles.

Their production plant is located in Mozzecane, in the province of Verona.

While talking about parking supplies scheduled for 2023, Matteo saw the pre-drilling and cutting machining centre in action. This is where the beams and profiles we use for most of our car parks take shape!

With a view to providing constant specialist updates within our construction sector, three Siderpark engineers took part in a technical update webinar on the design of steel parking structures.

The webinar, organized by the College of Steel Engineers, was held by Mr Enrico Tomasi, an Italian structural engineer who has been living and working in England for eight years.

After a general and historical overview and a technical description of structural typologies, the speaker focused on three problems of multi-storey car parks according to the Eurocodes:
- behavior of the structures;
- accidental loads (fire, impact);
- robustness.

Finally he presented two case studies: a traditional one with composite beams and corrugated sheet floor with collaborating slab, the other one with prefabricated prestressed double-T tiles according to a proprietary scheme popular in the Netherlands and the UK.

Our engineers were very satisfied. We thank the College of Steel Engineers and the engineer Tomasi.

In less than four months, the fourth car park was completed in the area of the Uxbridge Business Park, Sanderson Road, UK.

With a raised floor, built in cooperation with our partner Octavius Infrastructure, plot 1 joins the other three plots already existing, increasing the availability for users by 73 parking spaces.

The success of the product is mainly due to the Siderpark system, which allows the construction of an upper floor without the need to dig foundations, but also due to the particular facade cladding proposed which allows the structure to blend harmoniously into its surrounding.

The customer was pleased also with the changes we made to the system following his feedback on previous car parks.

It costs nothing to imagine, so let's try to list some characteristics that an ideal modular car park should have:

1. it should have exceptional durability and minimal maintenance requirements;
2. it should be scalable, so that parking spaces can be added in the future, if needed;
3. the existing car park should remain accessible during expansion works;
4. space should be maximized to include as many parking spaces as possible;
5. the aesthetics of the facility should blend with its environment and surrounding context;
6. it should be customizable according to our needs and those of our clients;
7. the structure should allow natural ventilation to reduce the risk of inconvenience.

When was the last time you were in a hurry and couldn't find a parking space? How nervous did you get as you turned around and around?

Well, it's not our fault! :D
From 1991 to 2021 we built 36,336 parking spaces in 10 countries around the world: the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Serbia, Morocco and Qatar.

We have prevented drivers from wandering for hours in the middle of city centres (4,133 parking spaces); we have prevented people who were late, from missing their plane (12,840 parking spaces); we have reduced the stress of visiting shopping centres (4,454 parking spaces); we have made cities more liveable thanks to park&ride facilities (5,015 parking spaces); we may have speeded up the meeting of hospital patients with their loved ones (6,342 parking spaces).

We have been building more than 3 parking spaces every day, for 11,000 days. Maybe sometimes we have helped you too. Or maybe we are about to :)
