Hi IOW riders,

I’m putting together something new that might be of interest to a few of you.

I’m starting a motorcycle touring business, focused on road-based European trips. I’ve done a fair bit of solo touring over the years, and I’ve also organised European car rallies for charity, so this first run is a chance to bring that experience together and get some honest feedback.

In September, I’m planning a 9-day tour through the Alps, taking in as many of the best passes as we sensibly can. The plan is to leave on Saturday 19th September and return on Sunday 27th September.

For this first trip, I’ll be running it at cost price. The idea is to get feedback on the route, pace, organisation, hotels, stops, and overall feel of the tour before offering future trips more widely.

I’ll sort the Chunnel crossing, routes, coffee and lunch stops, hotels, and supporting information, including things to see and suggestions for places to eat in the evenings.

The tour will include two days riding across France each way, with planned stops at sensible intervals and no more than around two hours riding at a time. We’ll then have five days riding through the Swiss, French, and Italian Alps. Decent hotels with breakfast will be included.

I’ll also provide a GPX file for the recommended route. There will be two back riders, so you can either ride with us or go at your own pace — whatever suits you best. The back riders will be there to offer support on the route and help if needed. They’re first aid trained and are experienced advanced-standard riders.

You’ll need your own breakdown cover, insurance, and the usual travel essentials.

The rough cost is likely to be around £2,000 per person. As this is being run at cost, the final price may vary slightly, but once I know numbers I’ll be able to confirm it more accurately.

I’m looking to keep this small, with a maximum of 8 riders.
