We recently completed a pontoon installation on the River Avon for our client to install scaffold on the rail bridge for a large project.
515m2 of pontoons were installed under the structure in the first span, once the scaffold was complete in that span the pontoons were moved into the next span and a pontoon walkway installed to get from one side to the other.
Access to site was limited, deliveries were made along a temporary road across fields using track matting. Once at the structure we utilised a range of our specialist plant to get the pontoons and equipment into the water.
Due to a low bridge to navigate to get to the launch location our pickup truck mounted crane lifted sections of pontoon off the trailer to reduce the height for the move. Our compact telehandler moved flatbeds trailers loaded with pontoons under the low bridge to the other side of the railway. Our spider crane then lifted the pontoon sections off the trailers and into the water. Our pickup truck crane, telehandler and spider crane created a relay back and forth of loading and unloading trailers either side of the railway line. From there our team assembled the pontoon sections in the river to complete the install.
Thanks to Maritime Filming UK for capturing the project for us
