Scheduled service👨🏼‍🔧⚙️

While carrying out a service on this VW Passat, we found the end cap on the gearbox had corroded, and a pin hole was leaking gearbox fluid. We carried out a temporary repair and stemmed the leak with a bit RTV gasket maker as no parts were available (bank holiday). Topped up and booked the customer back in for a gearbox service, where we will replace the end caps.

After a discussion, this customer is now taking advantage of our planned maintenance service schedule and is on a 6-month or 6 K-mile service schedule with ourselves due to the mileage he covers for work and can’t afford down time of his car.
Getting your car serviced regularly and on a service schedule will prevent downtime of your vehicles as issues are highlighted and rectified instead of them springing a surprise, causing inconvenience.

NO GEARS ⚙️

We had a call out to a regular customer with his new to him Renault traffic crew van. He said the gears had gone stiff to the point where you can’t get it into gear. Having a quick feel of the box, it was very tight when trying to engage a gear. We poked about underneath the van, and it didn’t take long to spot multiple issues. The power steering pipe was chaffing on the cv boot and the gear box had a film of fresh oil coating the underside. We pulled the drain plug to find 5ML. Yes 5!! Of gear oil left in the gearbox. We recovered the customer home but advised that the damage was already done. Luckily, the customer was within his 14days of buying the van, and the dealer recovered the vehicle and replaced the gearbox.

We offer pre-purchase inspections on all vehicles. This includes a full HPI check, and we do a 101-point mechanical check and test drive to ensure your safety and vehicle longevity. Don’t get stung by a rouge dealer!

Clutch replacement👨🏼‍🔧
This little 107 was in for some much-needed TLC. This motor has been passed down through the family, becoming the first car to its current owner. The clutch was not disengaging properly, making gear changes unpleasant. We came out and got the job done at the customer's home. We also replaced the front pads and discs for the customer, as they were highlighted on its MOT. We got the car back together, test drove it, and the gearbox was smooth as. The owner's brother (previous owner) commented on how smoothly it pulled away and how it went into reverse without a crutch or jolt! Safe to say the customer is over the moon, no longer grinding gears. Safe travels! And thank you for the scran. 🔧🔩⚙️🚗

Cupra cold start rattling 🚗 🥶

Diagnosing a Cupra's cold start rattle and rough idling took us to our neighbouring county of Shropshire. Given the E888 engine's known issues with cam adjusters, we suspected these parts might be the culprit. Inspection confirmed oil had leaked into the exhaust cam adjuster plug. After a thorough cleaning and fitting new cam adjusters, live data showed the car was running smoothly. A quick spin confirmed everything was in top shape, and this Cupra turned out to be quite the rocket ship!

We used our diagnostic machine to check the soot load (whoa, over 100%!) and decided a static DPF regeneration was in order. ATTEMPTED THEFT ALERT 🚨. A valued customer's LR TD5 Defender was recently targeted, but fortunately, our additional security measures previously installed by us prevented the theft. The customer is relieved to still have their prized vehicle.
We were called to recover the vehicle, which had been left immobilised at the customer's property. The thieves damaged the locks, ignition, and wiring in their attempt. Worried the thieves would return, we recovered and secured the vehicle, making swift repairs.
While in our care, the customer has asked us to install upgrades, extra security measures, and complete a full service.
