Mercedes AMG engine, originally handcrafted by Jerome Wachholz.

Now lovingly maintained by CARTECH Automotive!

We had this A45 AMG in for service today, and also a battery as the original was no longer serviceable at 8years old! Thankfully we were able to quickly source a good quality replacement of the correct AGM type (required for vehicles with stop/start) and also to reprogram the control module following replacement. (How complicated do manufacturers feel they need to make cars, am i right?!!)

Happy Birthday to us!!!!! 2 years ago today, we opened our doors for the very first time!

***NEW PRODUCT ALERT***

As always, we are slowly increasing our current stock of genuine Fiat/Alfa parts so that we can be better equipped to resolve any issues you may have without having to special order parts, which at times can be difficult, especially if certain parts are on back order.

We now maintain a stock of Daytime Running Light (DRL) bulb holders for the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade models as we have noticed an increasing amount of DRL faults caused by failed bulb holders.

Well Done to all of the team at Research Garage in Nuneaton! We popped over to go and see the unveiling of Alfa Romeo’s latest model, the new Junior! It’s a compact SUV, and size-wise sits below the recent Tonale. We were pleasantly surprised with it, and although we’ve not had the pleasure of driving one yet (we will give you an update when we do!) we expect it will be typically Alfa-esque to drive!

We did love the little details featuring the famous Biscione hidden in to the air vents and rubber matting in the centre console, and although the traditional scudetto has been morphed in to some sort of large stencil, we quite liked the fresh take.

It will certainly be worth a look for anyone looking for a vehicle in this segment in the coming months and we hope as always, that the sales figures are strong enough for Alfa Romeo to continue to keep producing more exciting new models!

Welcome to Luke, our amazing apprentice! He has been extremely helpful today with an interim service on an Audi A3 this morning! He even managed to complete a Diagnostic check and reset the service light!

At just 6, it will be a few years yet before he can properly be let loose on the spanners, but he is already car mad! (No idea where he gets it from 😂)

And now it’s time for a game of spot the difference!

Chasing down an obscure ‘driveline’ noise when coming on and off throttle, we quickly discovered that this Fiat Panda 100HP had previously been fitted with incorrect lower suspension arms!

The 100HP was always very well received and buckets of praise were heaped on them for their really fun chassis, offering massive smiles on a car with low purchase price, low running costs and from what we’ve seen over the years.

The improvements in the chassis on these tiny terrors even extended to a reinforced, stronger wishbone bush design which further limited any adverse movement to keep the front wheels firmly planted to the tarmac.

Unfortunately, there isn’t many people other than specialists that would have spotted this fault, and even a national parts supplier was caught out when they supplied the wrong type shown here.

Thankfully, due to our knowledge and contacts, we were able to get the correct set of arms on an overnight order, meaning we could get the vehicle rectified quickly and with the correct parts!

Test drive after replacement showed noise had disappeared, with a return to the pin sharp steering response these 100HP Pandas have become renowned for!

This week, we carried out another full 4 year service on a Abarth 595. This is all the parts and fluids that we use for these. We much prefer to maintain these vehicles with genuine Abarth parts and the correct Abarth Selenia engine oil, along with the recommended Petronas Tutela gearbox oil and brake fluid. We combine all this with our excellent Forté additives so that we can provide a more thorough and better quality of service to keep your Abarth at the very top of its game, and for less than you would pay at the main dealer!

In the workshop today is a VW Caddy. These are brilliant little vans and have endless scope for customising and modifying to suit personal taste!

This one was in for an Eibach lowering kit. The front springs are approximately 30mm lower than standard. Due to these vans having a leaf spring setup at the rear, we had to do something called ‘flip the axle’. This entailed removing the leaf spring which originally sat on top of the rear beam, and using specially modified shackles, refitting it under the beam. The modified shackles have multiple positions so the ride height can be tailored to suit. Our aim was to get the whole van sat level, matching the wheelarch gap front and rear.

Combined with a set of hubcentric wheel spacers that we fitted to bring the wheels further out, the van is now sitting perfectly with a mild suspension drop. Improved vehicle handling and dynamics will be the result so we are confident our customer will enjoy receiving his van back!

From today, we are pleased to announce we will now be stocking a wide selection of Forté products!
