Round 1 Cadwell Park.
After 6 months we finally back out on track competing. And what a weekend it was!
Warmup:
1:38.3 - this was the first time driving the car after a number of upgrades carried out last week which was a bit worrying as it was untested with both mechanical & electrical changes. But without pushing it slotted into 2nd place on the timing board and was already a second faster than last year.
Attack 1:
One slow warm up lap and then a push…
I look down at my timer. 1:35.0 🤯 I couldn’t believe it! I had set my sights on a realistic time of high 1:36’s by the end of the day. And instantly I was nearly 2 seconds up on this.
I pull in to the pits, do the tyres pressures (shout out to best tyre guy out there 😉)
And 1:34.8 with 2 mistakes 😳.
The session ends and I’m in 3rd place just 7 tenths off 1st. Although my ‘predicted’ lap time was saying I’d be right in the mix.
Attack 2:
At this stage things were looking good.
I go out again… and we hit a problem.
On the first lap we randomly dropped boost then regained it. 1:35.0 LapTime. Hmmm
In the pits, check the electrics. Everything seems happy. Go out again, 3/4 away around the lap. Same thing. This time triggering a limp mode. Which couldn’t be fixed in this session. We finish in 5th.
Super Attack:
After an hour of diagnosing and ‘fixing’ we just make it to the holding area for the final. Turns out 1 of the 2 O2 sensors for cylinders 1,2& 3 had pinched on the steering column. We managed to get it freed and straightened but with no time to swap it out we knew there was a good chance it could go down again.
I decided to waste no time and went straight for an early push lap incase temperature affected it.

Excellent! Cooled down, came into pits. Set pressures and Back out. 1/2 way round the lap the timer was predicting a 1:34.2… then it lost power again. Back into pits, reset. Same thing. Didn’t matter what I tried it wouldnt last a whole lap.
Back to the pits and the team are celebrating. Amazingly my 1 and only flying lap was good enough to secure 3rd place!!! 🤩 Unbelievable. Massive thanks to the Team! You were all fantastic! .ltd
