GE Aerospace is investing £63m to expand and modernise its Prestwick site in Ayrshire, creating around 150 skilled jobs over the next five years.

The project includes a new 55,000 sq ft building to increase engine maintenance, repair and overhaul capacity, improve operational efficiency and prepare for future demand, with full operations targeted for Q1 2028.

Used inside fabric filter bags, filter cages provide the support needed to keep the bags open while air and dust pass through the dust collection system.

The design of the cage, including the support rings and end components, is important for maintaining the shape of the bag and allowing the pulse-jet cleaning system to work effectively.

Rolls-Royce is investing £300m across its UK manufacturing and engineering facilities, strengthening capacity for future aerospace programmes and defence work.

Major investments include £140m+ in Derby, £90m+ in Bristol, £19m in Rotherham, £43m in Glasgow and £5m in Ansty, alongside further upgrades across other UK sites.

The investment will expand manufacturing capability, improve facilities and increase productivity, including doubling turbine blade output at Rotherham by 2030.
