🚐 1999 Talbot Express – Big Job Before a Big Trip! 🇮🇹

Here’s one that came in the other week 👀

This old-school Talbot Express came in with an overheating issue, just before the customer was due to head off on a BIG trip from the UK all the way to the Dolomites in Italy! 🇬🇧➡️🇮🇹

After carrying out some checks, we diagnosed a failed head gasket.

So, we got stuck in and carried out a full repair:

🔧 Head gasket & full gasket set
🔧 New head bolts
🔧 Cylinder head pressure tested & skimmed
🔧 New valve stem seals
🔧 New camshaft seals
🔧 New crankcase breather – the old one was absolutely clogged 🤢
🔧 New oil filler neck – the old one had snapped
🔧 Fresh engine oil & filter
🔧 New radiator
🔧 Fresh coolant

We also gave the engine bay a much-needed tidy-up, as there were cable ties holding all sorts together! 😂

While we were in there, the customer decided to take the opportunity to have the timing belt & water pump replaced too, giving them some extra peace of mind before heading off on their European adventure.

All back together, running sweet and ready for the road! 💪

Audi A4 2.0 FSI – Carbon Build-Up

This Audi A4 2.0 FSI came in running lumpy and rough. Following diagnosis, excessive carbon build-up was found on the inlet valve stems, affecting the engine’s running quality.

We carried out a full walnut blasting procedure to remove the carbon deposits and restore the intake valves to a much cleaner condition.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get any end-result pictures 🤦🏻‍♂️, but these photos show the progress throughout the initial cleaning stages.

On heavily carboned-up engines, it can sometimes take multiple passes to fully remove the deposits, depending on the severity of the build-up

Mondeo came in for a full clutch kit due to a failed clutch bearing and a failed master cylinder not often to see them both fail at the same time but it does happen.

The vehicle came in with a complete loss of clutch pedal. Following inspection, the clutch release bearing was found to be faulty, contributing to the loss of clutch operation.

Further diagnosis, we identified an internal fault within the clutch master cylinder, which was preventing the clutch hydraulic system from bleeding and building the required pressure.

Therefore, we carried out the following repairs:
* Removed and replaced the complete clutch kit.
* Replaced the faulty clutch master cylinder.
* Renewed the clutch hydraulic fluid.
* Fully bled the clutch hydraulic system to remove any trapped air.
* Tested the clutch system to confirm correct hydraulic pressure and operation.

Hyundai Tuscan clutch replacement
This vehicle was diagnosed with a loss of drive. Upon inspection, the clutch assembly was found to have significant wear to the pressure plate, with a broken torsion spring also identified within the clutch assembly.

•Fitted a new clutch kit, including clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing.
•Renewed the clutch hydraulic fluid.

Ford s max came in with coolant leak issues

During testing, coolant was found to be escaping from the EGR cooler and subsequently running down the engine block. The EGR cooler was therefore confirmed as the source of the coolant leak.

To rectify the faults, the following work was carried out:
* Removed and replaced the complete EGR cooler assembly.
* Removed and replaced the complete engine oil cooler unit.
* Replaced the coolant expansion tank.
* Carried out a complete cooling system flush to remove contaminated coolant.
* Refilled the cooling system with fresh coolant to the manufacturer’s required specification.
* Drained and replaced contaminated engine oil.
* Replaced the engine oil filter.
* Replaced the timing belt and water pump as part of the vehicle’s preventative maintenance.

Audi A4 came in for quite abit of TLC after been stood for 3yr 👀

ISSUES -
•Turbo was passing oil which also filled boost pipes and intercooler
•Intercooler were leaking (boost leaks)
•Gear stick was like stirring soup as gear stick selector was all worn out
•No central locking, interior lights or electric windows. This was caused by a very badly corroded ccm module.
•Rear seatbelt buckle not working
•Abs light on
•Rear wheels binding due to caliper pistons being stuck
•Front Anti roll bar links rattling

SOLUTIONS -
•x2 rear calipers + discs and pads all round
•Timing belt + water pump replacement
•Coolant flush along with a full service, spark plugs and fresh brake fluid
•Full front mount intercooler fitted to replace the old standard leaking ones
•New turbo fitted
•Diverter valve replaced
•Ccm module replaced and all electrical connectors throughly cleaned
•Rear seatbelt buckle replaced
•x2 front anti roll bar links fitted
•Faulty Abs sensor replaced
•New gear stick selector
•Old cone air filter replaced with a new k&n

Customer also bought a new set of wheels and tyres with fitting kit to replace the old worn out ones 👌🏻

Something a little different here for one of our regular customers, mini digger with a no start issue.

Diagnosed it to a faulty fuel pump solenoid also changed all fuses as they were corroding and dirty ✅

New solenoid replaced ✅

All new fuses and fuse box connectors all cleaned up ✅

Also had a new flexi piece put in the exhaust due to old one being snapped ✅

All Back up and running as it should be 😎
