It's Tyre Safety Month, and autumn roads mean your tyres need extra attention!

Wet roads, fallen leaves and chilly mornings all reduce grip. Whether you're driving your own car or training for your HGV licence, checking your tyres only takes a couple of minutes.

Just remember to ACT!

🔹Air pressure: Cold weather lowers tyre pressure, so check it more often as the temperature drops.

🔹Condition: Look for cuts, bulges, cracks or anything stuck in the tyre.

🔹Tread: More tread means better grip in the wet. The legal minimum is 1.6mm for cars and 1mm for HGVs, but don't wait until you're close to the limit.

🚛 Learning to drive an HGV? Vehicle safety checks are part of your practical test, and tyres are one of the first things examiners expect you to know. On our courses, from C1 through to Category C and C+E, we make sure checks like these become second nature.

Driving growth with apprenticeships at Ferryspeed!

Huge congratulations to Jason and Karl, two Large Goods Vehicle Driver C+E apprentices at Ferryspeed who have both passed their practical driving tests to gain their Category C+E licences!

Part of the company's brilliant 'Warehouse to Wheels' initiative, this opportunity gives warehouse operatives the chance to upskill, develop their careers, and step up into HGV driving. Adding two qualified drivers to the team has given an immediate boost to their operational capacity and fleet flexibility.

Both apprentices passed their tests in one of our fully electric LGVs. As the UK’s only logistics training provider with electric LGVs in the training fleet, we are proud to help our learners build their careers and drive the industry towards a sustainable future.

Not sure how many hours of driver training you’ll need? Our trial sessions are the perfect way to get an idea of how many hours you should book!

For just £60 you can book a one-hour trial session, where you’ll get the chance to get behind the wheel onsite and ask any questions you may have to one of our expert instructors. From there, the instructor will be able to give a recommendation of how many hours you should book.
