Audi R8 Fog Lamp Repair 💡

After removing the rear bumper, we tested the wiring and found corrosion at the connector – a common fault on these cars.

The original fog lamp unit was allowing moisture into the connector and causing the corrosion. We replaced the faulty unit with a new, upgraded Audi fog lamp.

We were offered the chance to buy this broken Scirocco after the previous owner had spent a considerable amount of money trying to diagnose and repair an ongoing fault, with no success. 🤕

The car had a severe engine rattle, lack of power, and engine warning lights relating to camshaft timing. 💣

In an attempt to fix the issue, the previous owner had multiple oil changes carried out, followed by replacement timing chains, camshaft sensors, and a VVT solenoid — all diagnosed and fitted by a main dealer using genuine parts. Despite this, the fault remained. 🫠

🔍 Our investigation began with an engine strip-down. We discovered that the camshaft bridge gauze was missing and had blocked the oil passages feeding the cylinder head. This oil starvation had caused significant wear to both camshafts, while the inlet camshaft adjuster had suffered excessive damage — the root cause of the engine rattle and loss of power.

✅ The repair involved:
• New camshafts
• New camshaft bridge
• New inlet camshaft adjuster valve
• New timing chains
• Multiple engine oil flushes to remove contamination caused by the damaged components.

One very poorly Scirocco brought back to full health & saved from the scrapyard 🙌🏼

This Ford Transit came in with a major oil leak 🫟

Turns out the timing cover had been removed before — poorly sealed and left with a loose camshaft pulley 😬 Lucky catch, as things could’ve gone very wrong! ⚠️

We replaced the timing cover & crank seal, tightened everything up, and also fitted new front brakes and a driveshaft ✅

Now this Transit drives like new again 🤝🏼
