Lot’s of confusion regarding 6 month MOT extensions.
My advice get your MOT carried out when it’s originally due.
1: You want to make sure your vehicle is maintained and in a roadworthy condition, for your own and other people’s safety.
2: If your unlucky enough to have to make an insurance claim you don’t want the insurance company trying to dismiss your claim stating that “The vehicle was not maintained” in the 6 month extension period therefore your insurance is void!!
We all know insurance companies will do their utmost to refuse a claim and the extension period is a perfect excuse as it states on the .Gov website that “Vehicles must be maintained and roadworthy”, how do most people know if their car is safe and roadworthy? MOT & routine maintenance, if they can spot a loophole they will exploit it too their advantage.
DON’T GET CAUGHT OUT!
GET YOUR CAR SERVICED/MOT’D when it’s due then there’s no grey area!!!
Routine maintenance keeps your car and you safe!!
I have seen and heard many instances over the last couple of weeks where people have got a 6 month extension but still had their cars MOT’D and discovered faults including steering and suspension components and bald/damaged tyres.
These cars could have been driving around for 6 months with dangerous faults present!!!
