The dust has only just settled on the last weekend - and it’s time to look to the next!!!!

Ellen Rd Mill proved to be a great success, and much enjoyed by both visitors and exhibitors!

So this Sunday - 11th October, 2026, is the Peter O’Connor Memorial Classic Vehicle Show on Market St, Shaw.

This is a show unlike the usual, from the point of view that it takes place on a closed high
street!
The road is closed to through traffic for the duration of the event, which starts at 10 am and goes on until 3 pm.
Exhibitors are guided to park either side of Market Street, giving visitors the chance to walk from one end of the closed thoroughfare in one direction, and return on the opposite side , taking in all the exhibits!!!!
It is a lovely event, with plenty of banter and good humour, a real community “do”!!!!!

Photo is a reminder of last Sunday’s event at Ellen Rd Mill!

Sunday, October 4th.
A lovely early Autumn morning - all boding well for a beautiful day at Ellen Rd Mill, Milnrow.

I arrived at just gone 9 to find several others setting up - going through those table and chairs rituals - wiping down dew sodden glass and chrome!

And so it begins! The steady stream of arrivals! And what a cavalcade of colour and quality!

It was an eclectic mix - as the photos tell.
So - enough waffle!
Here are the pictures of the event - the cars, the characters, the location - all the elements that make a great Classic and Collectors Car day!!

Enjoy!

Sunday 4th October is just a few hours away!
Despite the onset of one of those seasonal hindrances - the common cold - I am ready to take my place at tomorrow’s Ellen Rd Mill Classic and Collectors Car Show!
Looking forward to the usual eclectic mix of motors - and very much up for lots of conversation with similarly enthusiastic car people!!
I missed last October’s event, as, by then, I had parted with Grace, my Dealer Launch Rover 75.
This year has been a very different year for me! A very different role as Communications Officer with the RVCCC, and a new found focus - doing what I love best! Scribbling to my hearts content about cars and car people!!!

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow in Milnrow, and enjoying your company!!!!

Hi there to all!
We’re almost into a new month - and 2026 is entering that season of “mists and mellow fruitfulness”!
The leaves are turning, and the year is growing old!

And so, it is time for the Ellen Rd Mill Autumn Classic Car Show in Milnrow!
Sunday 4th October - in the shadow of the great steam engine house - is the next gathering of Classic and Collectors Cars!
In many ways, the Ellen Rd Mill shows top and tail the year for many traditional classic car show visitors and exhibitors!
One in Spring, t’other in Autumn!

Many a treasured classic will slip silently into hibernation, as the dark nights draw in and the mercury drops!!!!!!

Exhibitors need to be in situ before 10 am, as the gates open to visitors not long after.
11 am is the official start time!

As ever, it is an eclectic array of vehicles that attend. It is a time to bring you motor and share your passion!!! Be prepared to engage! That’s what these events are about!
The classic car movement is a broad church, and there is room for everyone! Come and enjoy the cars - and you might just find something unexpected! You’ll certainly find lots to chat about!!!!

While I have your attention, it is time to remind members that next Tuesday (Oct 6th) is RVCC Club night.
Meeting starts at 8pm at the Success to the Plough, Marland - opposite the gates of Springfield Park! Come earlier and join the pre meeting chat!

I trust this info has been of use to you looking forward, and that you will enjoy attending any of the above!!!

Steam Punk came to Rochdale
today!
Despite grey skies and pouring rain, hundreds braved the elements to usher in this new event to Rochdale’s magnificent Town Hall.
The building is just perfect for the purpose! The fabulous architecture with its Gothic flair and flourishes is all the setting you could ever wish for to stage this event!
Imposing comes to mind!
Slightly menacing!
Mysterious!
I could be talking about Steam Punk - let alone describing the Town Hall!

And the Rochdale Vintage and Collector’s Car Club was there to provide an automotive backdrop to this event.
We had a diverse line up of cars - covering all kinds of fashions and eras.
And we were overjoyed to welcome a pair of Rochdale Olympic cars - underlining our own town’s contribution to the history of car design and manufacturing.
Both had travelled many miles to join us “under the Town Hall Clock”.
One came from Wetherby, while the other travelled up from Crewe!!! And we are indebted to their owners for their tenacity and dedication that brought them to join us!!
All the cars were a talking point!
Each drew comments and it was clear that different tastes attracted different people!!
The Classic Car world is clearly a broad Church!!!!

We were very honoured to have a visit by The Worshipful Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Faisal Rana. Having attended the events inside the Town Hall, he came out to the square in front of the main entrance - where we were parked - to see the cars and chat with the owners - an unexpected and delightful bonus to this memorable day!!!

But the cars had competition!
Steam Punk fashion is fascinating! I am not going to show up my ignorance of clothing fashion!
I am just going to give you lots of pictures for you to study at your leisure and enjoy!

They are in chronological order.
You will see it was a day of two halves - a wet one, and a sunny one!

Here we go.

The countdown is now on to Rochdale’s first Steam Punk festival - at the our fabulous
Town Hall! Those Gothic flourishes of this magnificent building were created for just such a get-together!!!

Here are the details for your diary!
Saturday 19th September - opens to the public at 10am.
A day of fun and eccentricity - all qualities I can subscribe to!!!

Steam Punk brings so many elements of life together - no wonder it has captured so many imaginations!
Science Fiction meets the technologies of the 19th Century!
The fashion of Goths blends with the couture of high Victoriana - with startling make-up and elegant clothing design.

Let’s hope for some Autumnal sunshine for the event, so that the outdoor part of the day can be enjoyed by one and all!

And there is more to be enjoyed
once inside!

Rochdale Vintage and Collectors Car Club will be there, providing a backdrop of mechanical and engineering history - with a local twist!
We are hoping for some wonderful guests to join our line up! A blast from our town’s historical past!!!!!

It promises to be a memorable day for us all - both exhibitors and visitors!!!

As ever, stay safe!
And all the very best to you all!

Friday greetings to one and all!
Alastair, Comms Officer RVCCC here once again!
I trust I find you all in robust health!
I have already previewed coming events for this month in an earlier post this week, so I won’t repeat myself - you can refer back to those details by looking at that page.
But I like to bring you information “as it arrives” - forewarned is forearmed!!!!
My good friend Pete Burns mentioned to me an event in early October that warrants “flagging up”!
It is the Peter O’Connor Memorial Show in Shaw on 11th October. Starts at 10 am - and unusually takes place in the “closed off!” main shopping street of Shaw!
“For one day only” - as they say!
Market St, Shaw becomes the venue of a fabulous Classic Car event!
With the road shut to through traffic, and parking restrictions thrown to the wind, both sides of Market Street become a showcase for some glorious motors - and, of course, an opportunity to meet and chat with owners and enthusiasts!!!
It’s a great event, most worthy of our support!!!
As stated - 10 am start - finishes approximately 3pm!!!!
Once again - great thanks to Pete Burns for pointing out the details of this event! Much appreciated!!!

It has been pointed out to me that my round up of forthcoming events failed to include the wonderful Ellen Rd Mill October Classic Car Show!

I was so tied up with concentrating on September that I missed that this event falls before our October Club Meeting on Oct 6th!

This event is a great get-together at the lovely New Hey location.
In the lee of the magnificent Ellen Rd Mill Engine, this event draws visitors and exhibitors from near and far!

Sadly, the mill will, once again, not be in steam - due to ongoing issues with the building.

But, otherwise, it’s business as usual!!!
Exhibitors are advised to be in place for 10 am.
Gates to visitors open about 11!!!!
We have been very lucky in the years I have been attending, with favourable weather!!!
Let’s hope this year follows the pattern!

As ever - stay safe, and
All the very Best!!!
