🚗🍃 Important Update 🚗🍃
I’m not stopping teaching driving. Just reducing.
After 21 wonderful years working as a driving instructor, the time has come for me to step away from full‑time teaching. 🚘❤️
This has not been a decision I have made lightly. Over more than two decades, I have had the incredible privilege of meeting, guiding, and teaching some truly remarkable people. Every student, every lesson, and every milestone reached has meant so much to me, and I will always be deeply grateful for the trust and kindness shown to me along the way.
For some time now, I have been thinking carefully about the future and considering reducing my working hours. I honestly thought this change was still a year or two away, but as time has gone on, I have found myself reflecting more deeply on the industry itself.
There is a growing gap these days between what people expect and what is actually realistic, and I have found it harder and harder to reconcile that difference. Depending on your skill set 40 hours is not always a realistic expectation.(Hasn’t been for a long time). And I’m struggling to manage people’s expectations . Can you drive independently yes or no. It’s that simple….. it’s not just let’s have a go….and hope they don’t ask me to do that manoeuvre that I just can’t do. Be honest top and bottom of it.
I’ve also been asking myself whether I want you to pass more than you do. The reason I say this is the amount of cancellations over the last month. If your ill your ill.
If you’re on holiday you’re on holiday.
But some of the patterns just really sit comfortably with me.
This is not a hobby.
Sometimes certain individuals have had no loyalty to me. But let me tell you it also works the other way.
If I feel like you have lied or been dishonest it’s like a betrayal. And yes I do take it personally.
This has never been a HOBBY.
I’ve never done personal shopping on lessons. I’ve never cut lessons short. I’ve always given it my all.
I’ve often moved mountains to make sure the wheels keep turning so called to speak.
Social media has also played a part in this shift. While it has been a useful way to connect, the constant cycle of debate, comparison, and tit‑for‑tat exchange is no longer something I wish to be part of.
My approach has always been simple: I have never cared if someone passed their test in a matter of weeks or took much longer to feel ready. Speed has never been the goal. What has always mattered most to me is helping people become safe, responsible, and confident drivers who feel secure behind the wheel for life.
Sadly, the last few weeks have taken a noticeable toll on me. So for my own health and peace of mind, it is time to slow down and put myself first. I’ve missed my own doctors/hospital appointments. So I’ve always been consistent.
That was my choice. But I’ve chosen the job first.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported my business over the last 21 years. Whether you were one of my students, followed my page, recommended me to family and friends, or simply offered a kind word or encouragement when it was needed, every single gesture has been appreciated far more than I can say.
A special thank you also goes to my fellow driving instructors. Thank you for listening, sharing your experiences, understanding the challenges of this work, and standing by me when things felt difficult. Your support has made such a difference.
Behind the name there has always just been Jayne — the person. Someone who often put the business and my students before my own needs, who cared deeply about doing things the right way, and who always tried to act with honesty and integrity. I have reached a point where I no longer feel the need to explain or justify myself to anyone, and that feeling tells me clearly: it is finally time to take care of me.
To all my current students: please do not worry. This change does not mean I am leaving you halfway. I will continue teaching every one of my existing students, supporting you and guiding you right up until you pass your test.
Moving forward though, I will be significantly limiting how many new students I take on. This will allow me to work at a pace that feels manageable, and finally regain some balance and control over my own life again.
I never set out to change the world.
I just wanted to make a difference — one safe driver at a time.
Thank you for everything.
❤️
