We feel best we announce to our followers and anyone to search for us on social media, that we have taken the decision to withdraw from the platforms. We have taken these steps as we would like to focus all our efforts that we pride ourselves on; our core values within the business and ones where we feel have a greater impact on human interaction ... Great service, greater value, love and support to each and every one of you that we come in contact with on a daily basis.
Social media is a wonderful tool and there’s so much gratitude that it has allowed us to communicate further afield where this may not have been possible before. However, for us, we would like to show greater emphasis on helping those at the highest level that choose to use our services and help us by putting local businesses at the forefront of local people.
All the best and look forward to meeting more of our community. Simon & Luke

TAKE the 20p TYRE TEST... an easy way to check your tyre depth. When taking the test, REMEMBER to check at least THREE locations around each tyre. As the test is so quick and easy, stay safe by checking your tyres at least once a month.
HOW TO;
Simply place a 20p coin into the main tread grooves of your tyre.
If the outer part of the 20p coin is obscured when it’s inserted, then your tread depth is above the legal limit.
If the outer part of the coin is visible, then your tyres may be illegal and not safe for you to drive.

New tyres have approximately 8mm of tread. The legal limit is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of your tyre.
In order to be road legal the tread must meet the minimum requirement around its complete circumference.

If you’re caught with tyre treads below the legal limit you could risk a fine of £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre.

If you’re unsure, come and see our qualified professional tyre fitters who would be happy to check if your tyres are safe and legal giving you peace of mind on the roads.

Amazing service, very friendly. I needed two new tyres and they were ordered and fitted in a matter of hours. Will definitely be using this garage in the future - and their MOT and service for £99 is too good to turn down! Thanks again, appreciate the quick and professional service!

There is a handy reminder on your car as to what side you should be putting fuel in - and you'll kick yourself for not knowing it already!

In most cars there is a little arrow next to the picture of the petrol pump on the fuel gauge to show you which side your cap is.
This will save drivers who always forget from hanging out of the car window to check before pulling in at a petrol station.
With some cars, there isn’t an arrow symbol, but there is still a way to tell which side of the car your cap is on. Some vehicles will have a little petrol pump icon off to one side of the gauge, and it’s usually on the same side as the fuel cap is on the car.

Remembering which side your petrol cap is on will never be hard again thanks to this handy trick.

🎃 LOW WASTE PUMPKIN 🎃 ideas, if like us you’re pumpkin carving this week 🎃

Living through 2020 has been one extraordinary journey, if there’s one thing I’ll be taking away from it it’s how by slowing down I’ve seen and done more. More things back to our roots, our family traditions enhanced and most importantly back to nature.
Normally this time of year our pumpkins have grown in our vegetable garden and we are busy carving and scooping. This year though things have taken a turn and sadly ours didn’t grow any pumpkins so we headed out for a most enjoyable pumpkin pick at our local picking patches .farm and
With slowing down and doing more we are getting more from these humble orange gourds than just spooking our neighbours and you can too.

More than half of the 24 million pumpkins carved for Halloween in Britain this year will not be eaten, according to new research. Even if it’s labelled a carving pumpkin, you can still eat it and it will taste delicious with spices like chilli, ginger or cumin 🎃 🌶

So far we’ve gifted one of our pumpkins that didn’t “cut it” with the biscuit cutters to the girls in our back garden they devoured this treat 🐓 in no time! We cooked up the seeds in oil, cracked pepper, paprika and a bit of pink salt 😋 Tonight the flesh will be used for pumpkin pie or perhaps soup... decisions decisions!
This year we’ve lived our best year yet one more thoughtful, sustainable and fulfilling!

What’s your favourite way to use up your pumpkins? 🎃

millstreammotorservicesltd 🎃 TRICK or TREAT... here’s another neat TRICK;

Struggle to carve anything worthy of your front door? A few ideas here that don’t involve those tricky knife skills but still look great!

If you’ve some metal biscuit cutters to hand why not try using them to cut clean and sharp edged shapes
1. Give your pumpkin a bath and then dry
2. Draw around a small bowl either on the top, bottom or back of the pumpkin and cut out using knife. I used a dessert spoon handle to prize up the lid.
3. Using chosen metal biscuit cutter and small piece of wood tap the cutter gently into the pumpkin. The wood spreads the force evenly and the biscuit cutter goes in without bending out of shape. Take this carefully as heavy hammering can crack your pumpkin. Continue this to create your pumpkin repeating with the same or other cutters. Don’t place shapes too close to avoid cracking your pumpkin.
4. Push cut out shapes into pumpkin by hand, then scoop all of insides out.
5. Spray internal pumpkin and cut edges with hairspray this retains the moisture, keeping your pumpkin fresher for longer or you can cover with Vaseline or WD40 all do the same.
6. Voila! One completed pumpkin no carving kit required. Pop it out for Halloween!

Be nature thoughtful... squirrels love pumpkins but hedgehogs don’t and it makes them very ill. Leave your pumpkin at a sensible height so that animals who can enjoy, will, and those that shouldn’t eat it, can’t. Remember if you’ve sprayed or used Vaseline etc please don’t put these pumpkins out for the wildlife!

Have a happy and safe Halloween! 🎃 .farm

🎃 TRICK or TREAT... here’s a neat TRICK;

Struggle to carve anything worthy of your front door? A few ideas coming up here over the next few days that don’t involve those tricky knife skills but still look great!

If you’ve a steady hand why not try writing some text using a sharpie permanent pen
1. Give your pumpkin a bath and then dry
2. Either freehand write your text or alternatively print out some text and then use this as a stencil to draw over.
3. Using a biro or similar press down hard over the print out to leave an impression on the pumpkin surface.
4. Use a permanent marker like a Sharpie pen to go over your outline, you can fill in to make the text bold.
5. Voila! One completed pumpkin no carving kit required. Pop it out for Halloween!
