Well we're back to survey the Japanese fieldgun in Romsey memorial park. I worked out that I built new wheels about 15 years ago and I must say that despite the fact it lives under a tree they have done remarkably well.

Public service announcement!

To all those owning a traditional vehicle please read on.

So far this year the UK has been its warmest and driest, subsequently many of your wheels will be showing signs of shrinkage, you may have the odd creaking wheel or gaps at the joints or maybe a few gaps appearing in the body work. To remedy this there are couple of things you can do. Firstly NEVER soak your wheels, not even for an hour, this isn't 1825 when vehicles were used on a daily bases and to be honest very little were actually tightened in this manner. Right now thats out the way let's begin. Wood absorbs moisture, moisture not water is what you need to do is this. Get yourself the biggest bath towels you can, soaked them in water and drape them over the wheel. The moisture in the atmosphere will be absorbed and thus cause the wood to expand slightly. Now we all know that we don't like to leave out vehicles out in the rain but actually at this time of year it's very advantageous. So if you store your vehicles in warm dry buildings take them out on a damp day, it will do wonders for the wood. This public announcement was brought to you by Garners Wheelwrights Est1977
