‼️ ⚠️ LED replacement headlamp bulbs ⚠️ ‼️
From 14th October 2026 you can now legally retro fit *ECE approved* LEDr bulbs to your vehicle. This has been an MOT fail in the past, but no more….
EXCEPT!!!
Your vehicle will pass the MOT Test with retro fitted LEDr bulbs only if:
✅ The bulbs are ECE approved (not cheap Amazon or EBay knockoffs!)
✅ The approval sticker (see photo) that comes with all ECE approved bulbs is permanently fixed to the vehicle e.g. inside the engine bay
✅ The sticker MUST be readily visible to the MOT Tester
✅ The installed headlamp & ECE approved bulb must still satisfy all standard MOT beam image checks
Your vehicle will FAIL the MOT Test if
❌ There is no approval sticker
❌ The approval sticker cannot be read
❌ The approval sticker looks as though it has been tampered with
❌ The approval sticker clearly does not match the bulbs fitted
If the any of the above apply, the vehicle will fail the MOT Test with a major defect of “light source & lamp not compatible”.
We don’t make the rules, but we do have to follow them.
Please make sure your LEDr bulbs are ECE approved with the associated approval sticker clearly in place to avoid any difficult conversations at MOT Test time!
