Chris Higgs Advanced Motorcycle Training

Chris Higgs Advanced Motorcycle Training High quality, insured post-test training
for people who want to ride well. See Services for details. Training with me will match your needs.

Post-test training is usually taken by riders returning to bikes after a break, upgrading to a bigger bike and often before making a long trip. You may be quite happy with your riding but want to know what 'advanced' riding is, or to improve in particular areas such as cornering or riding more smoothly. I'm a part-time advanced motorcycle trainer, DVSA qualified (ERS/RPMT) and I use the standards

of 'Motorcycle Roadcraft'* which is how I was trained. I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to be trained by Hendon trained riders. I'm also a member of the Driving Instructors Association, uphold DIA standards and carry their insurance. I'm an IAM Masters holder with distinction and have been a Masters Mentor since 2014. I ride over 20,000 miles most years and am convinced that courtesy and consideration is essential to road safety. As motorcyclists we have the choice to make progress where we can but we often forget how other road users see us. The first step is an assessment of how you ride currently. Based on the outcome of that we can then work out a plan of action to suit you. I usually work in blocks of 3 hours and a full day would consist of two 3 hour sessions. These sessions will always include an initial discussion with you, riding on the road and a closing session with a written summary for you to keep. These sessions can be used separately or in conjunction with training from other organisations such as IAM Roadsmart or RoSPA.
