In line with new government recommendations to reduce waste and streamline the MOT process, we will no longer be printing MOT Certificates. Customers will be signposted to the online portal where they can securely access their vehicle MOT records. Customers will always be able to request a printed copy. Vehicles that fail their MOT on emissions will be issued with the emissions failure test record.

Did you have to defrost your vehicle this morning?

How do you defrost your vehicle?
Do you:
Use an ice scraper?
Use de-icer spray?
Pour warm water over the windows?
Start the ignition, turn the fans on warm and leave the vehicle and go back inside the house?

Now the first two are ok to do but the last two are a different story...........
Ice forms on the vehicle when it is freezing so when you pour warm water over the windows that water you have used is then going to go on the road/pavement/drive and with the freezing temperatures that is then going to freeze. This is turn will cause a slippery hazard for members of the public and other vehicles.

You might like to have a nice warm vehicle with defrosted windows but leaving your car running and then going back into your house leaving it unattended is an invitation for an unwanted person to get into your vehicle and drive it away leaving you without your vehicle. Your insurance may not pay the claim if you have your vehicle stolen this way.

A good way to defrost your vehicle is to put some warm tap water in a zip lock bag and then run the bag over the windows. It defrosts the windows and you don't pour water on the road to freeze or risk having it stolen. When you have finished defrosting your windows pour the water down the sink or in a drain and the bag is ready to be used again!
