What is perimenopause? It's the stage before menopause, when your hormone levels start to change.
You might still be having periods, but your body could already be going through changes that affect your physical and mental wellbeing.
Symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people experience hot flushes, sleep problems and changes to their periods, while others notice mood changes, difficulty concentrating or what's often called 'brain fog'.
You can still get pregnant during perimenopause, so it's important to keep using contraception until your GP says it's safe to stop.
There are ways to manage symptoms too. Regular exercise, a balanced diet and finding ways to reduce stress can all help. If symptoms are affecting your daily life, treatments and support are available.
Remember: your periods don't need to have stopped for you to get help. ๐
